Edifier S1000MKII vs KEF R3

I've been really impressed with the Edifier s1000 mkii, extremely practical and well rounded speakers for the price, the fidelity and detail leaves very little to be desired. I have also not heard a bad word about the 1850s and 1700s which apparently are better suited for near field listening and probably more suited to your budget.

Will it help out some users? Sure. Will it be a feature really worth swapping mounts for? Unlikely. Especially since the 1D X III's AF system is already so advanced and uses similar 'deep learning' algorithms as the R cameras for face and general tracking. It's very, very unlikely that the R3's focus system will be significantly better than the 1D X III's

** You want consumer-oriented powered speakers, that have connections and controls that are suited for use with consumer equipment. If you can go up to the $300ish range, I would suggest looking at the nicer Edifier models—maybe the S1000mkII if you can find it locally, or maybe something in the R1850 or R2000 series. These guys aren't tiny, but they produce great sounds that fills a small living room nicely. Probably best about them is that they don't require a receiver and can be added to your TV, computer, or record player. The Bluetooth features work way better than expected and produce rich and clear sound from a phone or laptop. My only gripe there is that there isn't much security on the speakers, so really anyone could use it if it's turned on

The R series has better cabinets, better drive units, and better crossover design than the Q series. I would take these over a pair of Q950 every day of the week.

You'd need 2-2.5x your budget for a speaker with really good bass and that's with the Edifier S1000MKII or S1000DB model. With max 200$, I speculate that any smaller speakers like your Megaboom 3 will disappoint bass-wise. Bigger hardware and within-budget Monster SuperStar could be good

Laying the speakers drivers up on a desk and pressing the shadow flares in about 1mm solved that problem completely. If you purchase these, you should be prepared to do the same. It lives up to that rating. I use it only with Bluetooth and my iPad or iPhone. I have it about seven feet high, on top of a wide cabinet in the living room and control it with the little remote control. It’s important to remember that it can only connect to one source at a time, and it doesn’t automatically disconnect, so if you connect it to your iPhone, then find you can’t connect with your iPad, go back to your iPhone and disconnect that first

WiFi streamer, either built in or external like audio engine B-Fi, with either the native app or simply using airplay from music app directly. Bluetooth does not impress me, but WiFi does fine. I prefer real sound pressure, so Kef R3’s with Marantz SR5015. Albums are a really cool way to experience music too because it requires work, which makes me feel more invested in the process
