Still, Yes, a carry system is what I needed, but not a traditional duffel bag, not a traditional backpack I needed something lighter weight. In fact, I was really looking for something along six ounces or less that could convert into a daypack. 20 to 30 liters is what I was looking for I have one at 35 liters, so I'm going to show you have another at 20 liters

 So they're 3/4 zippers and here we go that looks more like an official Camelback carrier if that's what you'd want to carry. I Think that might be a little bit heavy for this little pack, but you could try it taped all the way around. Good stitching.  This is not exactly a comfortable backpack; it has no structure to it. So the way to you packet determines your level of comfort. If you throw an iPad in there and then jam some water bottles and things it's going to be poking you in all sorts of ways, so you do have to be pre cognizant with how you're packing this thing just make it fairly comfortably out, or at least Something you can stand, but the nice thing with this here is this: pocket actually allows you to stuff everything inside and put this into a bag is carry along. Lastly, the way to open the main compartment from the top sucks. The pack is not rigid and easily collapses on itself, making it a pain to open the zippers, as you have to open two zippers around crumpled curves every time you want to open the pack, meaning a lot of pinching and re-aligning of material to get the zippers to go.

 The sleeve on the inside isn’t padded, so I would also be wary of putting your laptop in it (as advertised) without some extra padding.

I ignored my instincts to get an Osprey pack because REI gear seems to be getting better over the years, but as someone who works in state parks in the backcountry and travels frequently, I would not use this pack for hiking or travel. The design of the pack and pockets drastically reduces the amount of usable space in the main compartment, the materials the pack is made of are largely uncomfortable, the placement of things like the hardware on your hip belt don’t make sense, and actually opening and closing the bag is a hassle, every time.  I’ll be returning it ASAP.

 The organization in the side pocket could be more thoughtful, but ultimately I love it on looks and utility, but already am struggling with the inadequate zippers. The sternum strap buckle feels ridiculously fragile, and please just put it on a ladder system. The hydration hose clip is fixed to the right side? WHY? I’m concerned about stitching as well. It does incorporate some security features and the ability to take one of your backpack straps off is a good safety feature when you're able to wrap that around an item. So somebody can't quickly grab it, but if it does fail again, that's a huge knock on the bag

REI Ruckpack 28 and REI Signal 28 Side by Side

  I found it not necessary to use however because the pack fits so well on the upper back and shoulders.  It really seemed to stay in place as I hiked.

  This was a little irritating at first, but I didn't seem to notice it as much as time went on.  I can overlook this because of how well I like the fit of the pack to my back.

A very simple looking pack, but as stated a very nice fit and good pack for day hiking and other day use activities.  The longer I've had the pack the more I've gotten to like it.  If it wasn't for the waist strap, the buckle rubbing under the arms, and the additional exterior pouch, I would have given it a five star rating.

The pack seems to be best for day use / commuting / and the like.  I did experience a little rubbing under the arms of the adjustment buckles that are at the bottom of the shoulder straps.  This was a little irritating at first, but I didn't seem to notice it as much as time went on.  I can overlook this because of how well I like the fit of the pack to my back

The best thing I like about this pack is how it fits on my back and shoulders.  The pack really contours to my back and fits snugly against it.  The shoulder straps are well padded and fit very well over my shoulders.  The waist strap does not seem very useful, because as a taller person when I fasten the waist strap it comes across just below my rib cage (rather annoying)

Good fitting day use pack

 The waist strap is removable, and although it isn't padded, it helps keep the bag in place and more comfortable under heavier loads. The straps fit me right where they're supposed to, allowing me to carry the bag comfortably on day hikes and aboard airplanes. Speaking of airplanes, this bag has been my go-to carryon, as it fits under most airline seats with ease.

Got this pack as a smaller light trail pack, to my trail 40. It was labeled as an overnighter but wont work for the PNW with ever changing weather and I knew before getting it wouldnt get used for overnight trips out on the trails. But it's a fantastic day hike and light travel bag. Love the pockets and locations

  Old version could fit a fleece and pair of chacos on top of my essentials and they did not fit at all in this version.  I do like the new top pocket design but cannot use this as intended due to the complete lack of capacity.  Seriously disappointed.  It's not a terrible backpack but it should have a different name and lower capacity than listed
