 Which for me for a weekend getaway where I'm going to the airport, coming home in the airport and for the most part not like wearing my bag consistently not a problem. But for backpacking I know Shay and I both were like oh my shoulders. After you know, a month of this on your back again, the first thing I think of is like all I want is to push it up a little bit, have a hip strap and it would still be perfectly comfortable. Um, so again, if they ever made this with the hip strap, it would be the greatest bag for me

 Yeah, so we were like, well, we could use Ryanair here and there and so that's one of the biggest hardest things to tackle is what will fit, what won't. I need to show up at the airport and be charged even more for because obviously that's why you're using a budget airline. and I actually described this bag. I said earlier is like the Mary Poppins of bags because I bought so many souvenirs

 Nice use of compression straps and the carrying handles make it easy to carry in one hand, load into or out of a high overhead bin or car trunk. As for the backpack straps, generously padded and comfortable, leaving both hands free to maneuver my rolling suitcase, handle paperwork or whatever.  Very well designed, very impressed overall. My goal was to find a robust carry-on that was easy to carry, maneuver through an airport or on a plane and was true to size. Looking at a lot of wheeled carry-ons, including the one I’ve used for a number of trips, even though the dimensions met the maximum allowed carry-on size, space was lost due to the framework of the wheels and handle. Additionally, since I also usually have a checked bag, I have to deal with two rolling bags, or have my carry-on slung over my shoulder and try to balance that and deal with my suitcase.  I reviewed a lot of bags and was leaning towards some of the more expensive ones thinking that the material and design were better, but fortunately, the eBags TLS weekender kept popping up

 The Shoulder straps themselves have some decent padding throughout, and are decently thick, and dense with foam.. There are some plastic loops here to attach additional accessories too. And then we have this rail for the sternum strap that is hidden by this flap of polyester fabric

 And Lastly,, there is good laptop protection as long as you can fit your laptop within that hammock.. (upbeat music) On To some of the cons,, it has a bit of a cheap feel overall. The Zippers on the outside can be a bit confusing due to the large volume, and they're also blocked by the compression straps in a lot of areas

 At The time of this review, the eBags Mother Lode Weekender Convertible comes in an additional five colors compared to this Solid Black color that we have going on here. So those are Eggplant which is kind of a purpley color. Heather Graphite, Sage Green, Sinful Red. Sinful Red, all right

for the last two weeks in
Detroit and Minneapolis.

like a big travel backpack
which is actually what it is.

The main material, at
least on the black version

Although, eBags doesn't
list it on their website,

I think this is around
1000 denier or a thousand D

which is a decent fabric
density for a bag of this size.

A little big much as far as
the look goes in my opinion,

Also, the bag can seem a little bit large

We're not the biggest fans of
the look of this bag overall.

However, beauty is always
in the eyes of beholder.

To wrap up the rest of
the materials on this bag,

We have YKK buckles on
the compression straps.

They're just really easy
and satisfying to buckle.

All of the materials on
this bag are pretty decent,

but with the exterior
and the interior liner,

it kinda has a bit of a cheap
feel to the bag overall.

we haven't found it super
comfortable under heavy loads.

and are decently thick,
and dense with foam.

and then we have this
rail for the sternum strap

that is hidden by this
flap of polyester fabric.

because there is some flexibility
when you're wearing it

The strap adjusters below
are pretty straightforward.

We just wish that there were elastic loops

to hold the excess strap
together a little bit more.

that makes this harness
system uncomfortable.

All of the plastic hardware
going on down here.

This sticks into my back
as I'm wearing the bag

and becomes uncomfortable
after about 10 minutes of wear
