Suction is good, and you have the option to run it in "Quiet" mode although even on full power it's quieter than my previous vacuum. I've also heard good things about the Karcher CV300 ($400) but not sure how they stack up.

I've gone through quite a variety of handheld vacs over the years for cleaning Golden Retriever hair from carpeted steps. They all sucked- until they didn't! Annoying cords, smelly filters, and impossible to change belts made we dread this chore! They were bulky and loud too! I LOVE how the head of the tool pivots so I don't have to do advanced yoga moves on the stairs in order to switch between the horizontal and vertical surfaces! Thank you, Dyson! While your products are expensive and the sticker shock has made me avoid your products in the past, I now understand that you really do get what you pay for! I'm a convert!!!

You get the vacuum, a manual, and 1 set of filters installed. The swivel head is not important to me, but I could buy it as an attachment later. The retractable handle is not important to me. The multiple power settings is not important to me

I primarily used it as a handheld vac. The Humdinger does not have the same power, the crevice nozzle has an inferior design and it is difficult to empty. I have to use tweezers or a knife to remove debris. Quite disappointed

Spent a good amount of time on the web looking at reviews before deciding to buy this vacuum cleaner. I have used Bissel and Kenmore before this one and certainly Karcher has a lot more suction power. This model is geared towards carpeted places and you can buy a separate attachment for hardwood. It is not a light vacuum though, so if that’s a concern I would not recommend this

This vacuum's really well made and easy to work on, more so than 95% of vacuums on the market.

It's hard to imagine who would throw down $300 on a handheld vacuum when spending a dash more can buy you a far more versatile Dyson. We trust that the Humdinger is probably the strongest handheld on the market, but unless you're looking to misplace a few Benjamins, you should really just buy a stick vacuum.Price: $300SHOP NOW

The Karcher CV300 is the one I would guess you are considering for that price point. The CV300 does not have a switch to stop the brush on the power nozzle, so a hard floor tool would need to be purchased. With the hard floor tool, it would do great on your hard floors. Though it may push your budget some, it is an extremely nice vacuum cleaner
