Hi folks, so you may or may not know. But last December I had nose surgery for some sinus issues and along the way I found out that I'm allergic to quite a few airborne pollutants. Nothing really major, but just a lot of them on the minor end of things. So since then, I've put a greater emphasis on cleaning the air in my working environment and making it a little bit safer and cleaner for me to actually work in here long term

I should have done this I should have bought this before I made all the changes so that I could see the before and after to see truly how effective each change was. but I simply didn't I bought this afterwards just to monitor the air and that's that. So real quick to get into some numbers

 It's not going to fluctuate much, it'll bounce around 10 or 15 up or down, but that'll give you a good average of what that atmosphere is like.  I currently use a Dylos 1100 pro but will soon be testing P. urple Air units. I try to keep pm2.5 levels below 2micro grams/m3 , and find this easy to do with infrequent use of my purifiers

I was thinking of putting some of my air purifiers on a smart outlet so I can only run it at certain times of the day. The thinking is that if I’m not going to be in the room, I can turn it off so that it’s not using the air filters and wearing them out unnecessarily. 

For example, we’re not in one entire floor all night and we would turn it off there at night and then kick it on about an hour before we wake up.

Does this make sense and theoretically if I run it half the time, does it extend my filters from 6 month replacement to 1 year?

 This is a simple conversion that would be very easily done by any smart phone. More importantly, the graphics capabilities of smart phones would greatly enhance the utility of the data by revealing nuances that would escape examination of discrete data packets. Finally, the use of Bluetooth and smart phones would eliminate the cumbersome interface and provide a time stamp with the data.

 You can purchase an interface port to connect the unit to a computer and you can buy a battery-operated unit that includes the interface port. However, it is a cumbersome interface and requires a USB to COM port adapter cable. I did not purchase the port or the battery operated unit because of the cumbersome nature of the interface, and the requirement of a computer to process the data. My initial use reveals a unit that produces reproducible results (typical standard deviations are 10% or less), and fulfills my need to assess the air quality of my home

 At best, it provides a rough indication of how bad the air may be. The particle concentration data is stored internally, and you can toggle between a display that shows minute-to-minute, hour-to-hour, or day-to-day data. However, the data does not have a time stamp, it only provides a relative time base. If you unplug the unit (or if there is a power failure), the stored data is lost

 For those of you who are suffering from allergies or asthma and find an air purifier to be of benefit, the Dylos is an invaluable tool to help you manage your air purification efforts. This is truly an amazing device that I highly recommend.

 I noticed that my IQAir was having a hard time keeping up with the smog and my bedroom was rising to over 80,000. So I knew I had to run the unit at full speed to get the count down.  So I've been monitoring the counts closely and using the numbers to determine how often and at what speed I need to run the IQAir at for optimal efficiency. I've also been able to confirm that holding the Dylos up to the IQAir shows a count of 0, so I know I'm getting very clean air out of the machine

 I've read that some people have original HEPA filters in their IQAirs more than 8 years and still have zero particles blowing out of the unit. That is really amazing!  I was curious to see how accurate the unit was, and today I had a chance to test it out. I had an IQAir rep come out to my house to evaluate my home for a whole house IQAir system, and he brought his $3,000 particle scanner with him. We went around the house measuring each room and comparing it to the Dylos

A very useful device for asthma sufferers

 Let's see what's on the back on the back I think. yeah, so this has oops if I get it. So there's the the air quality chart. It doesn't really work great for what I see, but hopefully that's readable

 So when I closed it up it slowly worked down and the levels dropped way down inside the garage just with the two fans running. So you can see this has dropped over a hundred since we closed up the door and eventually it will reach a steady state. but with the three fans, that steady state is much lower than which than just with a single fan. So yeah, that's the that's what I wanted to show is just the effect of you know, having two of those fans and it's just the box fans with the hepa filters

 that's why I I recommend this as a dust sensor. Granite's a little bit expensive, but it works really cool and I also recommend the fan and filter combinations because they definitely work really well and you can see it's now down almost to 1400 instead of 15 and 16 and 1700. So yeah, hopefully it was useful for somebody to see. But those box fans and uh, I definitely recommend the two-inch filters versus the one-inch filter because there's much more airflow

As we all know, Water is everywhere-even in the air. It seems that this device can not make a distinction between "water vapor&" and "particles"

5 is not accurate, especially when the air moisture level or temperature is high.  2 This device can not provide PM2.5 count based on the official FDA or WHO measurement---μg/m3. Some sellers says u could "transfer" or "calculate" betwent the reading from this device to "μg/m3"-----it's a huge misleading to buyers and it's impossible

Hi, I've seen nice and affordable Xiaomi air purifiers but they don't seem to be sold here in the US. I wonder if there are similar branches here, with similar price range and features.

All recent Xiaomi air purifiers have app and laser dust sensor. These two features seem to be very rare in the air purifiers sold in US. I'm not sure why, they seem like simple features to have.

The ones I'm using are very loud and don't seem to work for the room size they stated. I turn them on all day but dust is still everywhere in the air.

Please suggest some good air purifiers to buy in US, which have apps and laser sensors.

What are best air purifiers to buy in US for people with asthma? Can you buy Xiaomi air purifiers in US?

 Xiaomi was showing half the values of Philips at the beginning then settled to zero. I took a blanket and shook it well just between the devices. Philips went crazy to values over 200 but Xiaomi did not even budge!!! Overall, what is the purifier for if you do not know what the values are and whether it actually cleans the air. I would recommend to choose other device

 I was reading many reviews: it make work for some, but definitely not on mine device. I bought Philips air purifier that claims to have reliable sensor (reviews claim that, too). I made a small non-scientific experiment. I run them both in the same room
