Denon HEOS 5 HS2 vs KEF LSX

Instead of simply taking any audio through the 3.5mm port, you need to specifically select the aux input in the Heos app and play local music through that app, since there are no source buttons on the unit itself. Thanks to the speakers' direct integration into many popular music apps, it made a wired connection less useful than a Wi-Fi connection. A Bluetooth option would have been a much better alternative

I really wanted to love these - for their size and price point they have a great soundstage/imaging and I'm not sure you can do much better given the constraints as far as sound goes. A little on the bass-heavy side for me and a little warm/colored but really for their size they are quite impressive. However, unfortunately the app/connectivity issues were a real dealbreaker. I spent hours debugging/reconnecting/going back and forth with KEF support trying to figure out why the speakers would not reconnect after randomly losing Wi-Fi connection

My highest recommendation. The HEOSV1 (Version 1) had WiFi glitches. The V2 doesn't.

The AirPlay connectivity is very unreliable, but that's mostly Apple's fault (my 10+ year-old Squeezebox gear works better and more reliably than that!). I also ended up using the cable to connect the two speakers, because I had some connection drops when using the wireless mode. Out of the box, they sound really boomy, loud and muddy: make sure you use the remote control app to change the settings, otherwise you will be disappointed by the sound. The bad: I dropped the remote control on the floor and it now refuses to work, so I have to use the app to turn it on/off

Do it later, connect it's easy and the sound is out of this world. You'Ll love it it's the heõs 5 by Denon, and if you like, music at all you'll love ...

The HEOS 5 speaker has surprising bass and is sonically pleasing. That said, The Heos application is problimatical. I cannot play my music on an SD card in my Fire Tablet. I fear that this may be intentionally done by Demon to steer users to online subscriptions

Ultimately I’d go with the 5s for music, that bass is just pfffwooar even if the mids are a bit recessed...

The app is not horrible but I'm sure could (and will) get better. I could see the frustration with the pairing process, it took me several attempts before pairing was successful.

Big plus for KEF is that midrange presentation (and coaxial type of sound) - very specific for KEF (many people like that)...

HEOS should have option to set only connect to 5GHz network and not 2.4 GHz, which I believe should technically fixed the issue.

First impressions coming from the KEF LSX Wireless is the volume that they produce. Not literally the sound volume, but the way they fill up a room with the depth of the sound they produce. Even at low volume they give a warm and deep feel to their sound. I listened to them without the sub, and they have a good amount of natural bass, however the Subwoofer compliments everything quite well

Great value compare to the wireless competitors and a room filling sound. App is now great, no issues there. I'm excited for the coming alexa integration.

Maybe 900sq. Ft. I am fully satisfied at 80-90% volume. The only thing I may add is a small sub for those times I want to dork out to some edm

I am a whole home Heos user and could not be more pleased with the Heos 5. The speaker had an excellent flow and design which is very important to me. Secondly, the sound output is outstanding. I researched wireless whole home systems and am very pleased I chose Heos rather than that other "###os"

I bought them for listening to music and as a better option than a sound bar for my tv. The remote has to be the worst designed thing I have ever used. The remote has red lettering on black, the buttons are flush and it seems to be just an afterthought.
