Like its predecessors, the latest Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 (model 7506) comes in two different versions. The entry-level version that&rsquo;s the subject of this review has an 11th Generation (Intel "Tiger Lake") Core i5 processor, 8GB of memory, and a 256GB SSD. The components are wrapped up in a bright silver chassis that lacks the cutting-edge styling of the XPS line, but still offers enough pizzazz to distinguish it from stodgy desktop-replacement laptops of old. 

 These dimensions aren&rsquo;t out of the ordinary for a laptop with a 15.6-inch display, but I do find that I can&rsquo;t comfortably hold the unit in one hand while tapping on the screen with the other, as I&rsquo;d expect to do with a phone or a smaller tablet. In tablet mode, this slab is going to work strictly in your lap or on a table.

If the user interface doesn't work, all the great stuff underneath is worthless. This computer turned into an irritation. You cannot touch any part of the metal plate that holds in the keyboard and touchpad, because it shorts out to the touchpad, and then the cursor moves to someplace you didn't intend to be. If you touch a "d" key, and contact is made with the metal plate surrounding the "d" key, you end up typing in some odd place of the document

. If you sort of put it in low-power mode, it should be able to dial itself back to giving you, again, practical usage, like, maybe all day in an airport or something like that. But it is a very big laptop, and it's not lightweight. It is heavier and bulkier than the MacBook Pro 16-inch

Best 17" laptop?!?! Dell Inspiron 17 7000 2-in-1 Review!

 Here we have the Dell Inspiron 17-inch 7706 2-in-1.

 Now, finding a 17-inch laptop, much less finding a good one these days, is a little bit of a tricky thing.

 Most manufacturers have kind of scooted away from the large form factor of a laptop in favor of something that's a little smaller and more travel-friendly.

 But today, we're going to find out if the 17-inch laptop is up to the task of becoming the best big boy laptop in the world.

 Let's get the specs out of the way really quick.

 This particular test unit has the 11th generation i7 processor.

 It has 16 gigabytes of RAM, a 512-gigabyte NVMe solid state drive, and the NVIDIA MX350 graphics.

 And it also has a little 32-gigabyte Intel Optane chip in there that we will get into in a little bit more in a moment.

 But nevertheless, all of this comes at a retail price of about $1299, which we're going to try to discover if that's good value or not.

 Let's knock the features out of the way really quick.

 So, it does come with a built-in webcam, and here is what that webcam quality looks like now.

 This is a test of the webcam on the Dell Inspiron 17-7000 series.

 And in the event that you decide to dance around naked in your room, it does have a little privacy shutter on the webcam,

 which is a nice touch that a lot of manufacturers are building in these days.

 It has a Windows Hello compatible fingerprint reader, but it does not have a Windows Hello compatible camera.

 So, by all accounts, it is a fairly feature-rich notebook.

 It's maybe not like the most feature-rich in the world, but it's definitely, I think, appropriate for its price tag.

 It has a 17.3-inch QHD Plus LCD display in there.

 All in all, it's a very, very good quality screen.

 And you're going to get a lot of enjoyment watching movies, editing websites, videos, pictures, this kind of thing on it.

 The problem is, though, is that it is a glossy screen and it is incredibly reflective of light.

 I mean, you can even see the laptop in the camera there.

 You can just see how bad its reflective qualities are.

 And I wouldn't say that's necessarily a deal breaker, but it's something that you're going to want to keep in mind if you work in either a room with overhead lights

 Dell has been including an anti-glare coating on some of their glossy screens.

 But this one, for whatever reason, didn't make the cut and they didn't add that on there, which I do think was a little bit of a mistake on Dell's part.

 And if anything, it's also a little bit...

 It shows that they got a little bit cheap on this notebook.

 Now, Dell has a habit of going a little bit cheap and cutting corners on their 17-inch machines.

 And I hate to say it, but this one is no exception.

 For example, the speaker quality on this laptop is absolutely atrocious.

 Most big laptops these days at least try to put in some sort of Brandon Harmon Kardon speakers in there or, you know, Beats by Dre, whatever, this kind of thing,

 on their laptops just to kind of give it a little bit of a marketing spin on their audio.

 But nevertheless, they sound a little bit better.

 And they're also pretty, like, distortion-free for the most part.

 But there is the occasional, like, little window sound that will crackle the speakers a little bit.

 And I'm not going to bother playing what the speakers sound like over the camera because obviously you won't be able to get the true appreciation of the fidelity.

 Suffice to say that if you're an audiophile listening to music, forget it.

 You will not be able to do any audio production on these speakers.

 You won't really be able to listen to music very well on these speakers.

 And you're probably not even going to really want to watch a movie on these speakers,

 which is a shame because you do have this big 17-inch beautiful screen,

 perfect for watching, like, movies with your family or something on a dinner table.

 But nevertheless, speakers are pretty damn bad.

 And I do think that they should have concentrated on putting slightly better speakers in there.

 Let's get off the speakers now already, okay?

 It's got the little numpad on the right side there.

 So that means that accountants and people that do a lot of data entry, Excel spreadsheets, that kind of thing, are absolutely going to love that.
