Of those two specific options, and with that criteria, I'd get the USP over a potentially clapped out Israeli surplus CZ75. Reasons:.

I am in the market for a 9mm handgun, and based on availability, price and other factors I have narrowed it down to two options: 

1. USP 9mm V1 (Double action/single action with “SAFE” position. Control lever (manual safety/decoking lever) on left side of frame)
Or
2. A surplus CZ 75

Now, I know these two options may not seem that similar, the usp is going to be about $600 CAD more... So if I get the usp I will by x amount of ammo, if I buy the cz I will buy a lot more.

A couple questions I have, in terms of reliability, maintenence, availability of parts, customization, use in a survival setting, as well as performance, how would these two options compare. Of course it is impossible to know exactly what condition the CZ will come in, and I don't know exactly what generation they are, all I know is they are listed in "good" condition, come with a single magazine, and are from the Israeli police.

So for a new handgun shooter who is looking for the previously mentioned qualities, would I be better of with the more premium, expensive HK or the cheaper CZ, but more ammo initially.

A couple other options I came across was the usp custom sport (getting a bit out of my price range), surplus Beretta 92, Jericho (from my understanding, no point this over the CZ 75), CZ Tactical sport and Shadow (more competition based and once again getting a but expensive).

For your first ever handgun, a .22lr of some kind. A Ruger MKIV or Smith and Wesson Victory

A local store has access to some smaller name brands that I have never heard of, so I did a bit of research and found that they could be good value picks and fit within my budget. That said, it's still difficult to find a ton of info on some of those guns, so i'm wondering if anybody has experience with any of these, whether I should avoid any of them in particular, or whether I should add any to my list.

SIG Sauer P226 XFive - Made in America

 Recently, Sig Sauer has been known for their Polymer Wonder Nines, but every once in a

 while they like to remind us that even though they like to party, they can still be formal

 I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo t-shirt because it says like, I want to be formal,

 Welcome back to the Humble Marksman channel, the only gun channel here on YouTube, dripping

 If you've ever been to Disney on ice and had to answer the question, but why are they

 ice skating about 45 minutes into the show and be like, I have no idea, go ahead and

 I'm David and this is the Sig Sauer P226X5 made in America.

 So the X5 was the original competition trim of the P226 for IPSC standard division and

 kind of the features that made this the sporting gun where it had a five inch barrel like other

 It had a stainless steel frame making it heavier.

 The sport versions had a kind of like thumb rest, a sport lever, whatever you want to

 They were single action only and they had adjustable triggers where you can actually

 adjust the trigger pull weight, the over-travel and to a limited extent, the pre-travel.

 Fast forward to now and Sig Sauer is reintroducing these manufactured in their Newington, New

 This is done by the Sig custom shop and what that means is that the machining is done to

 However, it's not a gunsmith gun, kind of like modern 2011s that are sort of everything

 It's just that the machines are able to cut to such ridiculous tolerance that the guns

 But really it's a stainless steel finished gun and if you actually look at the machining,

 there are like zero lines and zero swirl marks anywhere on the gun.
