 Uses cans a lot so very handy. Nice that it was white which went with her decor. Call it a win! I love this can opener! I have terrible arthritis and have tried many other openers. This one is amazingly easy to operate

ARE YOU LIKE ME?? THEN READ THIS!!  I've always been the person to fumble and fiddle with a manual can opener. Why should I pay more money for something electric that is likely to break down?? The manual can opener has faced the test of time and won!  Then came the day when my father some how busted my can opener (manual). How the can won in that situation is still beyond me. So it came to decision making time

 My FAVORITE part is I the magnet that catches/holds the cut lid so it doesn't fall in (I rather not have to fish the lid out of my soup...)

Started Rusting in Less Than a Month!

  If this is true, then I'm truly bummed, since I really don't want a enormous electric can opener taking up valuable space when I don't even use canned goods that often. I wish that someone would take this good construction idea, and just redesign it a tiny bit so that the blade dives deeper into the can, rather than practically skimming the surface, allowing the can metal to bend and avoid the blade altogether. Or maybe that wouldn't work either. Maybe the can metal is just too soft these days

 If I begin having trouble with a loose joint again, I will update my review so that others can see whether or not it "wears out" over time. I'm very pleased that the company was so proactive to read my one-star review and offer me a replacement, when I was too skeptical to contact them myself.  UPDATE3: After many months of using the opener on all different types of cans, I now know that this can opener is fantastic, and it's not the cans that are a problem. What a relief to find a great can opener that really works!

I thought it was the CANS, but it's not

 This one is THE REAL DEAL.  Who gets excited about these things? Normally people don't give a hoot about such a mundane product. But this product is so WELL MADE, so comfortable to use, I really am overjoyed at this choice. I have to tell you about it because I spent some time dealing with crap products that it is a giant relief to trust in a product that is so well made and so functional, I have to give back to them for making my chore just a TINY BIT easier

I needed a can opener for my pet's food and I said to myself, "Oh let me get the faberware brand it's an ok name". 13 bucks sunk with tax. That damn thing started slipping gears and the plasticky handle jammed up and cracked up that I had to glue it back. It was ok for a while but gears slipped AGAIN and it was soon an ordeal to use

  TO THE MANUFACTURERS: -------------------------  Folks often put these in dishwashers anyways, manufacturers might as well make these, or versions of these, dishwasher safe. If you are looking for competitive advantage or at least differentiation, perhaps you can find it there.

For those looking for a stainless steel cutting blade the Oxo and the Zyliss are your options here and I don't think either has a commanding lead over the other. Lo and behold, an Amazon search a few weeks ago brings me to a totally reasonably priced can opener that is a mirror image to the one my dear old dad bought decades ago (except the color of the handle on dad's was red, while mine is black). I thank you, makers of these can openers: You've given me some hope that not all our essential kitchen tool manufacturing has moved abroad and that I don't have to spend 30 dollars a year on can openers; instead, I pay ten bucks and get one that--if I take care of it--will last just as long as my dear old dad's 30 or so year-old can opener.
