CRKT Minimalist cleaver vs Schrade SCH111 Karambit Fixed Blade Neck Knife

Through many others, I finally have been using the CRKT minimalist and actually just ordered a SpyderCo LadyBug (supposed to be about 15 g). I don’t think I’ll ever be someone who ditches a knife completely or goes the razor blade route, but I’ve definitely shaved a lot of weight over the years. Small steps down definitely helped, as I don’t think I would’ve even considered such a tiny knife even 3 years ago. Especially for smaller items, I think it helps to gradually cut down instead of just going cold turkey

now the functionality the static hold slash and cut is OK, but It’s too light to flail or extend. I would have like to have a little more weight on the blade to stabilize the more dynamic functions of the karambit design.

My priorities are towards concealeable fixed blades. I highly prefer belt carry knifes as while i exchange pants and thus pocket sizes and arrangements regulary (office jeans at work, cargos in my free time, bike pants on the bike), my belt always gonna be my belt and on every pant, be it summer, winter, walking or riding my motorbike.

The outer layer of the handle is so thin that it is worn through in multiple spots straight from the seller. It gives the handle of the knife a very shop-worn appearance right out of the box. It makes it look like someone has used the handle portion of the knife for a long time.

I'm gonna grind down the handle and lower portion of the blade and improve it, but I won't be able to use the sheath that comes with it. At $20, it's no big deal for me to fix it. Shrade should pay attention, they could fix this small handle issue and I would pay a $50 price point for this knife without hesitation.

Great knife, except it just falls out of it sheath. And after weeks of this happening it finally fell out and i didnt feel it. So now its gone. Was a good fit and sharp durable, just sheath was no good and now a waste of money because now its gone!

I bought two of these together. Both were sharph-ish right out of the box, but needed more work. One took it very well (my first time sharpening a karambit). The other is a bit of a bother: the last 1/4 inch of blade is unsharpened to the point where I had to take a file to remove the excess, and I'm still not done with that little project! Otherwise, I feel the price point is good for this sturdy knife

The sheath adds so much value to the product and I am already looking for my next variant to get. I would recommend this to anyone that in the market currently.
