CRKT M16 01ks vs Ontario RAT Model 2

It’s of good quality, holds up to edc, it’s a nice thin profile, lightweight knife. I carry it much more often than my Benchmade Infidel, which is a much pricier, larger knife.

Get an Ontario Rat in D2 steel, a bottle of mineral oil from the pharmacy, a lansky turnbox, and a set of Wiha torx bits with a driver.

Really light weight, very sharp and due to the light duty this gets the edge holds up longer on my case. (usually cutting boxes and zip ties) the lock is a bit of a task due to my hand size to the knife size ratio. I use one hand to close very carefully because my thumb is usually in the way while opening the lock and using my index to flip the blade. All in all a solid light weight knife for light duty

I've had other thumb stud opening knives that opened fully much more robustly. That said, I may have to tune it a bit and exercise it until it wears in. Overall, though, a nicely made knife.

84 for the silver blade on black stainless handle. That is a steal for this quality. If you are in the market for a smaller EDC that still manages to give you a 3" blade, grab this before they realize that the price might be a glitch (their other models in the same M-16 1s range are around $25-35). Edit: 5/21/20 I like this knife, but one huge flaw is making me drop this knife down to 3 stars

But now for the bad things- first, the price that they are asking for is WAY TO HIGH- I could find this exact knife on other websites at a price way lower (40% lower than what I paid). The 2nd problem relates to the knife, a few weeks after I bought it I saw rust forming on the blade. Not a lot of rust, I took some steel wool to it and that removed the rust, but it rusted too easily for me to feel comfortable neglecting the knife. I live in a dry place and but it had been raining before I noticed the rust, so maybe the moisture in the air played a role

The handle is extremely lightweight. However, I anticipated a quick deploy, but the knob on the back of the knife opens it only as fast as your fingers can move and you still need to use the side knobs to open it fully. It’s truly a bear to close as well. I have to use my other hand to depress the arm from the inside

The handle on the Rat II features the same robust design of it’s bigger brother. You have plastic scales over full stainless liners with pillar (or “flow through”) construction. It is simple and effective. I also like the choice of handle colors and the black hardware

**If I paid full price, I'd send it back**. My issue is with closing it. The lock feature is great as far as the blade opening and staying open. The problem is with closing the knife

It doesn't cut paper, i actually tried to cut myself and it was like a bakery knife. I only gave 2 stars due to me liking the form factor of the knife, but it's a paper weight until I learn to sharpen D2.
