 Not worth it for the price point IMO, but for what I need to make it works fine. Just be sure to keep the box so you can return it if need be. Be mindful that the belt quality varies from printer to printer (I bought two and one belt is higher quality than the other).

For the price I expected it to work properly put of the box. I was wrong

I have multiple belt based printers and by far this was the simplest setup out of all of them. Assembly takes less than 1 hour as most of the machine is pre-built. If you got one of the creality wifi boxes for it do your self a favor and throw it away. It was easy for us to setup the printer at my local maker space using a raspberry pi and web cam

Only hard part was leveling.

 I think it's a terrific price, if creality can mass produce and deliver at this quality level or better, i'm hoping all of the work up front is going to pay off. Creality is consulting with carl, who you know created the white night belt. Printer and they've also sent one off to bill steele who, in 2015, through polar 3d, created his own belt printer machine naomi has sent the machine not only to me, but also to chuck hellebuck angus at maker's muse, uncle jesse and matthew at design prototype test, and We have all given lots of feedback hoping to make what the backers receive be. If you want to print with PLA filament, any competent FDM printer can get the job done. ABS and PETG materials are a bit more demanding, but still usable on a high-quality machine. But if you want to use more exotic materials such as nylon or carbon fiber, you&rsquo;ll need a printer that can get much hotter than the 240-degree cap we see on popular models like the Creality Ender 3 Pro.
Able to reach up to 300 degree temperatures thanks to its aluminum nozzle, the Voxelab Aquila S2 can produce gorgeous prints with filaments that other models can&rsquo;t handle. In our tests, it produced a highly-detailed print of &ldquo;benchy,&rdquo; a boat commonly used as a test model, in nylon. It also provided strong output when we tried a detailed bust of Groot with PLA.
Aquila S2&rsquo;s magnetic build plate is flexible, with both a textured side and a smooth side. The open-air printer is fairly easy to set up and uses a 4.3-inch display with a dial as its interface. It  comes with two different slicer apps: Ultimaker Cura and VoxelMaker, though the former is the industry standard and the one you&rsquo;ll most likely want to use. The biggest downside to Voxelab&rsquo;s printer is that it requires manual bed leveling so you&rsquo;ll need to do that work if you want to ensure you get a good first layer.

Hello everyone. I'm finally taking the 3d printing plunge, going with the Voxelab Aquila. I saw it recommended here and did some research on it. It seems to be a pretty capable starter machine and for the price it's hard to beat

This thread is meant to conglomerate purchase advice for both newcomers and people looking for additional machines. Keeping this discussion to one thread means less searching should anyone have questions that may already have been answered here, as well as more visibility to inquiries in general, as comments made here will be visible for the entire month stuck to the top of the sub, and then linked to in the next month's thread.

If you are new to 3D printing, and are unsure of what to ask, try to include the following in your posts as a minimum:

* Your budget, set at a numeric amount. Saying "cheap," or "money is not a problem" is not an answer people can do much with. 3D printers can cost $100, they can cost $10,000,000, and anywhere in between. A rough idea of what you're looking for is essential to figuring out anything else.
* Your country of residence.
* If you are willing to build the printer from a kit, and what your level of experience is with electronic maintenance and construction if so.
* What you wish to do with the printer.
* Any extenuating circumstances that would restrict you from using machines that would otherwise fit your needs (limited space for the printer, enclosure requirement, must be purchased through educational intermediary, etc).

While this is by no means an exhaustive list of what can be included in your posts, these questions should help paint enough of a picture to get started. Don't be afraid to ask more questions, and never worry about asking too many. The people posting in this thread are here because they want to give advice, and any questions you have answered may be useful to others later on, when they read through this thread looking for answers of their own. Everyone here was new once, so chances are whoever is replying to you has a good idea of how you feel currently.

Additionally, a quick word on print quality: Most FDM/FFF (that is, filament based) printers are capable of approximately the same tolerances and print appearance, as the biggest limiting factor is in the nature of extruded plastic. **Asking if a machine has "good prints," or saying "I don't expect the best quality for $xxx" isn't actually relevant for the most part** with regards to these machines. Should you need additional detail and higher tolerances, you may want to explore SLA, DLP, and other photoresin options, as those *do* offer an increase in overall quality. If you are interested in resin machines, make sure you are aware of [how to use them safely](https://www.reddit.com/r/3DPrinting/wiki/resinprinting#wiki_safety). For these safety reasons we don't usually recommend a resin printer as someone's first printer.

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In April 2021

  I bought this in early 2021, and put 100+ hours of printing, usually in PLA. Let's start with the bad, as that's what everyone wants to know: BAD: Right out of the box, it needs a few upgrades to be reliable and safe (safe, more on that later)  1) Upgrade the Bowden extruder drive gear to an aluminum one. The heat and force on the plastic one breaks quite easily. I tried cobbling the old one together and 3D printing a replacement, but they generally have too much slop to extrude properly
