This watch has a lot going for it for the price: it clocks in at just 1.1 ounce on our scale (with the nylon strap) and has such a low profile that we often forget we’re wearing it, which is a nice change of pace from a bulky and heavy model like the Fenix above. Battery life also is impressive (30 hrs in GPS mode and 20 days with regular use), and you'd be hard-pressed to find a more affordable watch with a built-in barometric altimeter and multi-GNSS support. Finally, you get a color display, Corning glass screen, 12 sport modes at the time of publishing, and easy connectivity to a smartphone via bluetooth. For those new to activity tracking or athletes who don’t dig too deeply into their stats, simple is often better—and here, the Pace 2 delivers in spades.

All that said, it’s important to recognize the Pace 2’s limitations. Most significantly, COROS very intentionally designed this model for frontcountry activities like road running, biking, and pool swimming—it doesn’t even feature modes like hiking, skiing, and climbing. And its construction follows suit: the plasticky build won’t hold up to major impacts (nor is it a very stylish option for everyday wear), and the small digital dial is difficult to use with gloves on. Water resistance is also average at just 5 ATM, and unlike many offerings, you don’t get music capability. But we’ve found the Pace 2’s GPS tracking, mileage, and elevation to be consistent with high-end Garmin watches, which is flat-out impressive given the price. Best GPS Watch of 2022 - GearLab

This watch is light weight, it looks nice to wear. Not some huge clunky or bulky watch. Able to change the face/dial to nice watch with minute-second hands etc so it is not "digital". One thing that is odd and probably designed to keep from accidently opening the training/tracking functions is the button you have to spin to unlock the functions

Battery life is really good

 - Workouts automatically end after you finish the last lap. If you are executing a structured workout and are still a half mile away from your house when the last interval ends, the workout stops and doesn't include the last half mile. - Unable to use treadmill for structured run workouts? Maybe you can change this, but I wasn't able to find an option for it. When executing a run from your training plan, there seems to be no way to use the indoor run/treadmill option

I think this is a great watch overall, with some major downsides (for me). The good:  - Running Power is an awesome feature. - Swim workouts sync to the watch from Training Peaks, unlike Garmin watches. - The watch will record heart rate information during swim workouts

 In this case you have to save a 2 minute outdoor run to switch to the treadmill activity type. - No native integration with Cronometer. I had to set up a weird three way of syncs between Coros, Strava, and Cronometer to get activities to sync. - Calorie estimates were off the charts

 For the added cost of the chest strap, I could have gone with a Garmin forerunner 245. Probable will return and purchase the Garmin.

 That course, just launched so course also launched the vertex 2, which adds maps music and a bunch more to the original vertex. And if you haven't checked out my in-depth review of that one i'll have that linked down in the description below which you can check out. As well as what you get inside the product bundle, but i also have data to share in terms of how it performs for running cycling as well as a weight training just so you can get a good idea if this device is going to be right

I currently have a Coros pace 2 and I really like it. The battery life has  blown me away. I train probably 6-10 hours a week and I only need to recharge the battery once every 3 weeks or so. I've been impressed with the features as well

Coros is affordable and more watch than you’ll probably ever need. I’ve had mine since December 2020 and it’s been a great asset. I charge it maybe once every couple weeks and I train 20-30 hours a week.

I've been impressed with the features as well. I'm personally not looking for cutting edge tracking and analysis, but they have added several new features that really help me monitor my training progress. I've found it's very reliable and everything I need and more. 

I'm sure Garmin is also great, but I don't think I could justify spending more for one of their watches after my experience with Coros. I prefer not to buy refurbished which is another reason Coros is a better fit for me.

I've had two Garmin ForeRunner watches and both were awful. Horrible GPS connectivity. Bands breaking on both, data cable issues. Have had 3 Garmin GPS bike computers. Also horrible. Lines on the screen, spotty GPS, freezing, dying, etc. Support sucks because their warranty is short-lived and once it's up (my first Edge 500 was 5 days past warranty), you're out of luck.

Now have a Wahoo Element on the bike and a Coros Pace 2 watch. No issues with either and would recommend them both over Garmin. Especially like the track feature of the Coros. I think the running power metrics are a bit gimmicky and not particularly useful (or even accurate), but the rest is good. I use an ANT hr strap and have no issues with connections.

Hey all. I know there are a bunch of these posts but I wanted some feedback before bidding on a used watch. 

I’m a noob just starting training. I’m looking for a budget watch (under $300) and am on the fence between a Coros (pace 2 or apex) or a used Garmin. The features that are most important to me are: battery life, size, and interface. I’m not too concerned about heart rate and other stuff, but obviously the more the merrier. 

My understanding is the Garmin watches are amazing, but I’m a little apprehensive about buying used/refurbished, particularly if I’m worried about battery life. I’m not running ironmans or anything but I don’t want to feel like I’m always needing to charge or worrying about what mode my watch is in. 

Anyone have experience from a similar perspective? Thanks I’m advance!

I’ve been using the Coros Pace 2 for about 6 months. It’s been amazing so far and you can’t beat the price point!

Only 2 complaints.  1. It took a bit of time to get used to the king button.  2. I am using a Garmin bike computer so the integrated training load stats don’t cross-sync.  I could wear the Coros when riding but I don’t.

Hello fellow newb!

I got a Garmin Forerunner 745. I was between the 945 or the 745 - the size factor was the ultimate sell for me as I got small wrists. The main difference between both is mapping (which the 745 lacks and battery life). So far I love it!

Pros: Size (small enough for my wrist), tons of features (love the daily run recommendations and free training plans Garmin offers), syncs to Strava automatically, I personally like the Garmin ecosystem (have had a Garmin since end of 2015, and I find them quite durable). 

Cons: I scratched it on the first week at the bottom of a pool. I wish there was a bit more sport options, but they do let you create your own custom ones so I can’t be that bothered. Not too much of a fan of the strength function since I want to record my entire gym sesh and not split it up between walking/running, lifting weights, abs circuit and stretching (I created a custom gym one though, but I don’t get my strength things in :/). I don’t think I have any other complaints - maybe takes awhile to charge and swimming or anything else that isn’t running doesn’t account for the load? ((I’m trying to be nitpicky since I’m assuming that’s what you want to know, in general, it’s fab)).

I have the Fenix 6 Sapphire Titanium. Just did the Oceanside 70.3. It’s pretty much the perfect watch. Scratch proof, feature complete, battery life and very light for a Fenix.

Hi, newbie here.

I have started training with a view to do my first triathlon in 2022 and I am looking for recommendations for a watch. I plan to take part in sprint distance, but that is likely to grow into 70.3 over time.

My question is:

What watch/tracker are you using?

What are its pros and cons, and would you recommend it?

I am hoping to have settled on one by Black Friday, so hit me with your thoughts!

It’s not Garmin’s most premium or featured offering by any means (the Forerunner 945’s sleek build and music storage makes it a slightly better multisport option, while the Fenix offers full mapping capabilities for serious backcountry enthusiasts), but the chart-topping battery life and low price are hard to beat. If you have a tendency to lose charging cables or lack the discipline to consistently charge your watch (our Forerunner 945 needs a power boost at least once per week), the do-all Solar is hard to beat. On the other hand, if you plan to use your watch for navigation, the Garmin Fenix 7 (also below) is much more capable, with a colorful display and preloaded maps that include details like location markers and topographic lines.
