Condor Discord Machete Fixed Blade Knife Gray vs Cold Steel Royal Kukri Machete

Mine came with the tip slightly damaged which I had to file out, hence the 4 and not 5 Star review. I used it to chop down a dead scrub oak about 4 inches across and It held up with no damage/wear and the finish cleaned easily. The overall fit and finish is good, not exceptional, but better than what I’d normally expect with a machete. The blade is sharp, though not razor sharp

But it has a apple seed (convex grind) edge and a 1075 German steel blade with a mild temper for durability. Very nice kukri for only about twice the cost of this. But it will not double as a machete. It's too heavy

This scimitar like blade is both lighter, faster, and actually cuts better due to it being easier to swing. See the attached photo for details.

It seems like pretty good quality and feels great in the hand but the blade came VERY dull. It's dull to the point that you can actually drag a finger down the blade and it won't cut. I understand this is a machete and works more on just brute force but I am still disappointed on how dull this was. Hell my fiskars hatchet came paper slicing sharp and with just a few laps on my spyderco sharpmaker it could shave my arms and that's a "blunt force" tool

I am a Prime member; I received my Discord in two days; I only give it 4 stars because it did not come with the sheath as pictured on Amazon; it came with the sheath as pictured in the old Condor catalog with the two retaining straps; It is very difficult to put this blade in the sheath without cutting the straps or your fingers. I should mention it's heavy, but I like the added weight for cutting. If you want ultralight, look elsewhere. If you want a beast that won't crap out on you and you can give to your kid someday, this is the one.

It gives a nice weight forward feel, but can still be recovered like a normal Latin style machete. A great nod to the advantages of the kukri design.

Very high quality steel to work with, very sturdy steel. The micarta handle is lovely, good texture and grip to it. Way better than the other machetes I've used for making clearings. Very good feel to the swing

This style sheath makes getting the Discord out fast a no go and returning it to it the same. I'm going to have to have a sheath made for it I'm sure. For that reason I go 4 stars because of the lousy sheath.

It's a bit larger than the traditional khukuri size, but for what I was using it for, perfect. It comes with a fitted nylon case in which the knife must be sheathed a certain way. I like this as it makes you think and ensure that you properly sheath the knife instead of just shoving it in all willy nilly and accidentally cutting a tendon. I have since resharpened it and coated it in oil and it is hanging in my garage waiting to tackle next year's overgrown brush or intimidate any overly nosy neighbor

My main criticism is that the grip diameter is a little large for me. Used with both hands it feels great but it's awkward chopping with just one hand.
