 The stove will either resume "Blow Torch" heating or have the flame extinguish after letting go for the gas control knob - extremely frustrating.  I am aware of the cost incentives to outsource manufacturing of your products, unfortunately, the Coleman name at this point is not worth Cow Dung. It is so sad that you would brand the Coleman name on such a piece of Chinese Junk. Fundamentally, Coleman has digressed from a reputable high quality manufacturer of usable goods to a low grade importer - sad indeed

 Still touchy on low heat settings but quite usable. I would give Coleman's customer service and warranty process 5+ Stars, the camp stove a 3 Star Rating.  ORIGINAL REVIEW: I started purchase of Coleman products in 1981, I was always delighted with the functionality, quality, and value of the products (2 burner White Gas camp stove & Lantern). They functioned as one would expect, maybe not the easiest to clean after a "boil over" but worked great delivering both high and very low heat as required

 You don't necessarily have to get Coleman brand. There's a lot of different ones that have Universal adapters on the top that work just fine. The next best feature about this product is you can actually buy an adapter to run a 20 gallon propane tank. So if your RV camping or if you don't want to run out of fuel or if you have more space, you can always go with that option

 Now the main thing to remember about this product is you're definitely getting what you pay for. but what you're getting is a lot of value for the price that you're pay. In my opinion, the Coleman Classic stove is a must have. Teeny - no frills, easy to use, easy to move, great stove

 So another good feature about this is the burner and the grate is pretty close. I Have a medium-size pan on here right now and this is kind of a small pot. Coleman Advertises that it can fit a 12 inch and a 10-inch pan side-by-side In my experience, that's kind of pushing the limits of what this thing can do. You can adjust these side wind guards so you can fit a little bit bigger pots

 Another great feature is that this is pretty compact. It will snap down when not in use and it folds up. So the dimensions that they have advertised are 4.1 inches by 21 point nine inches by thirteen point seven inches

Coleman Classic Propane Stove Review Pros and Cons

The Coleman Classic Propane is the current front runner. It seems a pretty straight forward no frills stove at an affordable price.

I do use the portable propane tanks, the little mini ones like here. um and it doesn't have the instant start so you do have to use a match or a lighter to actually get the the burners to start up. But overall here we are cooking some rice, some tortillas

 Fix is below:  "Initially, the hose did not let gas from my 20 lb propane tank reach the burners on my Coleman NXT 200 grill; while a 1 lb disposable canister worked fine. It was puzzling why the canister fit fine but the hose and big tank did not. However, after digging around for answers on the web, it turned out the remedy actually was to modify the grill fitting to better fit the hose, i.e

I fixed this by placing a 10 mm socket into the grill's female fitting and turned the pin/nut counter-clockwise, loosening the nut (that is part of the pin assembly) by about a quarter turn, thus in effect lengthening the pin just a little to make up for the shortfall in the hose end

Tried and true grill , but....

.  The wind guards are painfully simple, but very effective, and superior in many ways to competing designs. The side flaps are adjustable to allow for more, or less air in to the burner, and space for larger pots / pans.  The wind guards, and lid fold back completely out of the way in case you have some insanely large pot you need to put on the stove

. They are well made, super easy to control and produce a LOT of heat. I was able to bring a quart of water from 50 degrees F to a boil in 3 minutes. Simmer control unlike many camp stoves, is fairly straight forward and easy to manage

 It was no problem at all. Both pots fit easily, and we fed 8 people off of this one little stove without having to juggle anything!  The finish is very nice on this, better than the competitors, and the embossed Coleman Name in the lid is a nice touch. It's an old school enameled green paint, that is very durable, and honestly, quite attractive at least to my eye.

Exactly what a 2 burner propane camp stove is supposed to be.

  CONCLUSION: I really like the metal construction of this Coleman stove, it seems to be well built, yet light enough to carry. And if you ever do get the stove dirty, it is easy to clean. But the things I like most about it, is the fact that it heats evenly, and burns cleanly. Having two-burners, allows me to cook two things at once, so there is no wait

 Weather your camping, or just using this at home during a power outage, this is the stove to get. I have had no problems with it what so ever, and I highly recommend it! 5-STARS!

 While this propane stove does burn very cleanly, it still puts out carbon monoxide, and it still consumes oxygen. This is why I recommend that you run this outside, or inside your garage. The area needs to be well ventilated. If you are out camping, of course, please do not run this inside your tent or RV

  Stove is fairly heavy and bulky, but packs okay because of the lid. Just pack a couple of pot holders inside to stop it from rattling. Definitely not a backpacking stove, though.

For reasons I'd prefer not to debate, I'm assembling what I'm calling a Homelessness Insurance Policy which I also plan to use for some actual normal backpacking (if for no other reason than to acquaint myself with it all).

My criteria for the tent thereof is as follows:

* Snow-capable
* Free Standing
* Durable enough for near-indefinite use (or as close to it as possible without obliterating my knees)
* 2-3 Person (I am one person but it would be for potentially truly living it)

My research has lead me to the Hilleberg Allak (maybe the 3, since it's less than a pound more than the 2 for notably more room to call my own). I'm aware it's on the heavier side of things at just over 8lb packed, and rather tanky, but I am looking for at least some degree of the latter.

Thoughts on this or other options?

I am looking for a 4 person lightweight (under 9 lbs) tent that I can use for mild backpacking trips (few days) with my kids or a few friends that don't have their own tent.  I want something light enough that I can hike it in myself, but sturdy enough for 2 kids and maybe a dog. I would also like to not feel like I'm in a coffin if possible.  My kids are 10 and 6 and experienced base campers and hikers, but we are new to backpack camping.  We will mostly be backpacking in the Catskills or Adirondacks, anywhere from 1 to 3 or 4 days to start.  This is not for a few weeks on the Appalachian Trail.  Cost is not an issue, but I am not looking to spend $600 if I can get what I need for $300 and I can upgrade some other items with the savings.  Right now, most of our gear is base camp oriented and not backpacking.  I got a few of these suggestions from other posts in this Reddit.  I'm looking for help deciding and I am open to other suggestions I have not listed.  Thanks.
