 The only minor nitpick negative I can think of is the zippers don't have metal pull tabs as you would expect. The pull is via cords, and I'm not sure how long they'll stay on, but I'd be careful not to pull on them too hard. Overall I would highly recommend picking one up!

Great everyday backpack for school/work.

I've been on the search for an affordable, commuter-friendly backpack and this is the one! I love that it has a good amount of structure and the straps are very supportive. It is also very water-resistant, so I don't have to worry about my laptop or papers getting wet. This has been very comfortable to wear as a petite person!

To finish up this section, we also want to point out the water bottle pockets you’ll find on both sides of the bag. We’ve been able to fit a Hydro Flask Standard-Mouth Water Bottle with Flex Cap 21 oz inside, but it’s a tight fit. Like we touched on earlier, we have to fight against this fabric to get anything larger inside, as it’s not elasticated or very flexible. 

The bag’s back panel has some even denser padding in a honeycomb-like design that keeps you comfortable while also allowing air to circulate, so you’re not getting too sweaty. As we noted above, the bag’s material keeps it well-structured, which has helped make for a comfortable, supported carry. 

That said, they’ve still been performing nicely and haven’t let any moisture inside near our gear so far. We’ve also run into instances of water-resistant zippers getting stuck, especially around corners. On the contrary, while these zippers aren’t offering the same level of protection, they’ve been smoothly gliding open and closed since we started testing. 

You’ll find some robust YKK zippers on the Hondo that have been working well so far during testing. We would’ve liked to see an AquaGuard zipper or two to echo the water-resistant properties of the material, especially because of the restriction that the Tarpaulin causes with packing out the bag. If Chrome Industries is going to incorporate a protective-but-inconvenient material, we’d prefer to not also have to worry about water getting in through the zipper.

 It’s made getting slightly larger objects harder to get in my pack. Second, I absolutely hate the design of the drink/side pouches. It doesn’t fit my Nalgene bottle especially well, especially when I’ve first loaded the bag with my laptop and other gear. The drink pouch does not expand at all, so when the bag has some items in it already, I can’t fit my Nalgene

 38L may be exactly what others need. For me I found the bag to be too shallow in thickness (depth while laying out in front of you to pack) and when using the top auxiliary pockets too much interior space was sacrificed. The laptop compartment opening was also a little tight to get my 15" MBP (2015 Retina model) in and out of. One other small gripe is that the water bottle pocket kind of interferes with the side handle for carrying the bag like a suitcase, and moves that handle a bit off-center

Ultimately I ended up returning this bag because it proved to be too small for what I wanted to carry. [ Music ], getting my last few things packed up here before i take off for chattanooga, i'm headed down there to race in a rally called the red clay rally, i'm co-driving a lexus with a friend jeff who caught me into doing this and i'm finally gon Na get a chance to review a product that i've been sitting on for a while because of covid. I haven't done much traveling by air, and this is the kathmandu lighthall 38. It is a carry-on bag backpack, and these are the items i'm packing at it and i'll show you how everything fits all right like i said this is the kathmandu lighthall 38 and it's basically just got a big horseshoe shaped zipper across the top opens up into The main compartment - and here i'm going to throw in some t-shirts, shorts and underwear, because inevitably the airline will lose my check bag that has all my clothes in it. So we're gon na pack a few spares some socks

When you're storing this in the overhead compartment like this, with the handle facing out, you have these two zippered pockets that you can grab stuff out of without having to pull the entire bag out of the overhead compartment. Kathmandu Litehaul38 Carry-On Backpack Review

I'm a fan of the Kathmandu LiteHaul 38. Not a lot of pockets, light bag, bit of stiffness to the back but really \*framed\*, removable hip belt, cushy shoulder straps. Cinch down straps are low key and cool. Just simple, not overly done, bag

After doing a ton of independent research, I still haven’t found *the bag.* I’m coming from a GR3 slick and find it to be just too big for my needs, which is international travel - both urban and remote destinations. 

I’m after a clamshell or U shaped open, less than 4LBs, non abrasive fabric (500d?), black or charcoal color, and not too focused on having a zillion pockets for each and every item. 

I was excited for the TB techonaut but the 45 is just too large. I’d consider a gr2 if I could find black, slick and 500d… otherwise it’s a little too tactical for me. 

Any recommendations?

Perfect 35-40L Onebag

 There'S two of these little lock points one there and then one down here, a standard flex. Padlock is gon na work great. These top three zippers, you can lock all three together with just one padlock and the same thing will work down here on these two zippers and lock point these little night eyes. Clips work great also not as much security but they're, pretty low key match the zipper color

 I think this thing is very comfortable. Backpack straps, nice wide padded top load, adjusters work. Great. All the straps have nice little keepers very easy to adjust

 The hip belt could be a little longer kind of sitting. Now, there's a huge trade-off between bags like this, with a lot of features and interior volume. The light hull has this beefy stoble backpack system, this thick padded laptop compartment, which take up a lot of space in the pack compared to a pack like this osprey daylight

 I just went on a 4-week trip and only took this. It fits perfectly in the overhead, even on smaller planes. The padded laptop compartment is great and I feel my laptop is protected. The only annoying thing is the waterbottle holder
