I seem to go through more charcoal with this grill than with other grills I have owned, and it doesn't seem to retain heat as well. The removable ash pan is a bit cumbersome to empty, and doesn't feel very sturdy. I do like the features of the sliding cooking grates and the crank handle which will raise or lower the coals from the cooking surface. Both are very convenient features

Weber's are a pain to clean out. If you've ever owned a Weber then you know that even their newest design for ash removal is still inferior. It's still very messy, especially in the wind. This Kettleman has a cleanout pan that is simplicity itself

The firebox lid is one easy access point, but the grills themselves are designed to slide around so you do not have to take them off to add new coals (though you may have to move your food around). Despite the above, I do like it because it holds the temp well and its convenient when I want to grill with charcoal, but don’t want to use my smoker. The issues I outline are only to give the prospective buyer an objective review. It is in no way a bad product, I really do enjoy this grill; but the aforementioned issues may be a problem for some.

I have already modified the damper on the hood to close all the way. Now I have to modify the two side dampers to seal up completely so I can smother the coals a little more to reduce the inside heat. With just a few coals this thing gets around 500 degrees. So it does burn very efficiently
