 Let this thing cook for another couple hours and then I'll take it off and wrap. It maybe put it in an aluminum pan in tinning and then let it cook until it gets to a hundred and ninety nine degrees. Oh, you probably noticed that it's not at 250, it's at 275. I double-checked my numbers on that and i reset it to 275

 What I like to do it take just take a paint brush and just knock the ash off. This lip here, so it's getting that catch the pain, just kind of sweep it off into the bottom and lift that catch pan out. You don't need a vacuum cleaner. You don't need a scoop of any kind

Char Broil Kamander a Year in Review, a Pork Butt, and a Comparison

I’m a gas grill guy and haven’t used charcoal in decades.  I followed the direction and fired the grill up to season it.  I used this time to play with the temperature settings and found I didn’t have much control.

  Once it was going well I closed the list and let the temp approach 600.  Then I closed the vents to 3.5.  The temp kept going and at 700 I opened the grill to let some heat out and also adjusted the vents to 2

Ok round 2 time to grill some steaks.  So the instructions recommended to use lump charcoal so I bought a bag of this.  Well this requires you to turn on the survivalist skills to get it to light without fluid or a chimney.  But with enough work I got a fire going

On round three I had a much better time lighting the lump charcoal without fluid or a chimney.  Once I had a good fire going I closed the lid and set the vents to 1 as soon as I closed the lid.  The grill got to 400 to 450.  This time I was doing brats and chicken breasts

Quality construction

I love the ease of use and temp control. The large gasket between the 2 halves partially came off but is working albeit somewhat. Could use a better attachment design.

Assembly of Kamander Charcoal Grill

After using the Kamander for more than a month, I decided to provide some thoughts on the product. Firstly, this is a very good grill, it easily competes with ceramic style models in all respects - as far as I am concerned. While the ceramic guys may represent the pinnacle of the barbecue process, the Kamander wins hands down on price and does not nickle and dime the buyer for necessary add ons.  Having said all this, I have two suggestions

 First I rapidly noticed that the grill handle did not stay well secured to the top permitting much heat to be lost, and I tried several adjustments to fix this. I finally hit on the idea of using stove and fireplace cement/mortar to fix the problem. I filled the handle's aluminum escutcheon with mortar and also forced mortar into the handle screw hole on each side of the Kamander's cover. This did the trick

DON'T SHOOT THE GRILL...SHOOT THE LABEL

 So we'll set that to the side and get this hook. That comes with it and this portion here this hole is so you can add more fuel to it. If and when you need to this is your drip pan and it has a rack here, get the drip pan sits on, and then this is your great for your charcoal, and this is your removable ash pan. You just take this and dump it whenever you're done cooking

 It is 47 degrees here today in these Texas. This thing is hailed temperature with an acceptable to an acceptable degree than far as I'm concerned all day. Long, okay, wait about 15. More minutes

 Holding about 275 now put the beautiful ribs on now then, as with all this style grill, when you unbuckle it, don't just open the lid it up. You want to pull it up about a inch. Let'S marry shut it back down and open it up again, that's called burping. If you try to open the lid up too much too fast to begin with, it'll do what's called a back flash flashback, something it will

 Now the instruction manual says you're only supposed to put enough charcoal in here to put about this. Much in you know, teepee it up good on that. Just use that for your measurement, but since I like smooth - and I don't like the idea of trying to get back in there - [ Applause ] - this is charcoal that I used last time and had leftover. This thing burns so efficiently that it has charcoal left over
