CatEye Quick vs Garmin Edge 830

Positive: Easy to read, easy to reset, easy to fasten to the bike, as accurate as other Cat Eyes I've had, It doesn't clutter up the handlebars, looks spiffy Negative: I wish whoever writes the set up instructions would quit & get a job at Taco Bell. Instead of/or in addition to the drawings & arrows, why couldn't they include a simply worded 1.do this 2. now do this, 3

5 inches wide and 2 inches tall. That makes it difficult to use as a navigation tool. Second, the user interface is poorly designed. There is, so far as I can tell (and I have searched online extensively just to make sure I'm not missing something) no way to manually sync the device

As we mentioned, this is a really basic computer for folks that just want the necessary numbers, so it's not going to have fancy functions or give you in-depth data or analysis. It is not GPS enabled, so you can't use it for navigation nor track your routes. There's no way to transfer your ride data to Strava or another third-party tracker, so it'll need to be done manually. This may suit many riders just fine, but for those that want a little more functionality, you'll need to look a little higher up the line for a more advanced, GPS-enabled computer

Scrolling around and selecting options is wonderfully straightforward. The menus and interface are well-organized, making them relatively intuitive and user-friendly. This computer seems less affected by water interference than other touchscreen devices, making it a little more practical to use during inclement weather. It also has a laundry list of useful features

So, I think the light interferes with the Quick's display circuitry, not the wireless signal between the fork sensor and the main unit. Bottom line: if you have a light on your bike, you need to keep it as far away from this computer as possible. Great in bright ambient light but no bueno in low light.

The charging insert was just a mistake. A very nice unit with good value and reliable performance. I have had no cross interference problems with numerous lights and other devices.

Like in many other devices, the manufacturer's quoted battery life doesn't match what you get when you're out on the road. Of course, there is the age...

I would probably recommend the Strada Slim for something in this price range; it preserves the factory lines of your bicycle much better than the Quick.

TL;DR: I’m a recreational 10k runner, mostly trail with training on road. I could buy a second hand 45S for less than £100 (submitted an offer for £65 so that could be the lowest price), or a brand new 645 music for £199 - are the additional features redundant for me or would it be mad to not buy the 645 for only £100 more?!

When this arrived The unit did not work. I replaced the batteries and still nothing. I requested a replacement and when that one arrived I had the same issue. Replacement batteries did not fix the issue
