Canon EOS Rebel SL3 vs Panasonic Lumix G7

For the type of video you're doing, I prefer the Canon. The autofocus is smoother and you can scrub footage to review it, which is really important. The Sony has weird old VCR-style controls to review footage and it means sometimes I don't catch problems I need to know about soon enough to refilm.

On the left shoulder you'll find the drive-mode dial with options for time-lapse/stop-motion animation (this is one of the few cameras I've seen with a direct-access control for that); self-timer, exposure bracketing (up to seven shots in 1/3-stop, 2/3- and 1-stop intervals); the aforementioned 4K photo and 4K burst options; normal burst mode; and single-shot mode. Among the G7's drive modes you'll find 4K photo and time lapse/stop motion animation. Love the fact that I can use legacy Canon lenses or the newest, as my budget allows. I got the 18-55 STM kit lens and it is a fine starter lens, especially for video (wide angle since the camera crops, especially with 4K video), it's silent, fast and relatively accurate. I also got a "nifty fifty" prime Canon 50mm lens that is Super for portraits and just to walk around with taking photos. I also got a Canon EF-S 55-250mm STM lens for excellent shots of RC planes in the air far away

I currently have a Lumix G7 which is absolutely awesome for video, have used it for about 5 years no complaints. However, for the past year or so i've been leaning more and more towards photography instead and that's where i find the G7 to be a bit lacking, especially in low light situations.

Not even close. But keep the cost in mind. Keep the weight in mind. Mostly, keep that fabulous Digic 8 processor in mind
