The Canon EOS RP proves that you don't need to break the bank to get a full-frame camera. While you'll have to tip over $1,000 if you want to get a lens bundled with the camera, it's still one of the most affordable full-frames on the market unless you shop second-hand. It's relatively small and lightweight for a full-frame camera, and it has a simple control layout and an easy-to-use menu system.

While there's a lot to love about the RP, it's clear that Canon skimped on other aspects to keep the price down. Its all-plastic construction feels a lot cheaper than higher-end full-frame cameras aimed at enthusiasts and pros. It also has a disappointingly short battery life and a slow max burst rate. But you'll have a hard time finding full-frame image quality for less, so if these aren't dealbreakers for you, the RP is a great deal for those who are serious about getting into photography and want to jump right into a full-frame model.

While crop sensor cameras offer beginners the best balance of price and performance, a full-frame camera gives you about an additional stop of low-light capability and better bokeh, though these advantages will likely be lost on you until you've gotten a handle on the basics. If you're set on jumping right into full frame or know you'll need the extra low-light advantage, the Canon EOS RP is Canon's entry-level full-frame offering. It's even pricier than our top beginner pick, the Nikon Z 50, and you'll also be paying more for lenses, but it'll give you full-frame image quality at about as low a price as you can get.

The RP is relatively light and portable compared to other full-frame options, and its simple button layout is designed to be as accessible as possible to newcomers, although more advanced manual shooters might find the relative lack of control dials limiting. Thankfully, it's very comfortable and has a large viewfinder and a fully articulated touchscreen. While it can take high-resolution photos with less noise in low light, it lags behind many of our APS-C picks in battery life, burst rate, and dynamic range. This means you should only consider it if you need that added low-light performance or if you've already got some full-frame lenses lying around.

If you're after full-frame image quality, you would have been hard-pressed to find a brand new full-frame camera for under $1,000 before the Canon EOS RP rolled out. At just under $1,000 for the body, it's one of the most affordable full-frame cameras on the market. Of course, just like the Fujifilm X-S10 above, you'll have to stretch your budget if you don't already have lenses; however, it's still amazing to have such an affordable entryway into full-frame photography&mdash;outside of getting a camera secondhand, of course.

There's a lot to love about the RP, from its relatively portable size to its accessible controls and user interface. There is a trade-off, though. Build quality leaves a little to be desired, and it has disappointingly short battery life. Unlike the X-S10, it doesn't have built-in stabilization and only shoots heavily cropped 4k video. It isn't the best option if you're interested in shooting video. Still, for photographers, the boost in low-light capability and the ability to use full-frame lenses might be worth the trade-off in these other areas.

&quot;Cheap&quot; is a relative term here, as the Canon EOS RP will still run you a fair amount of pocket change, but as far as full-frame cameras go, there isn't a more affordable option than this (unless you buy it used, of course). With a decent full-frame sensor packed into a highly portable body, there's a lot to like about this camera, from its impressive autofocus system to its excellent ergonomics and accessible controls. While it's clear Canon skimped on things like build quality and burst rate compared to pricier models, full-frame image quality and lenses have never been more accessible.

Like the Nikon Z 5, it isn't the best option for video shooters, with an even worse 1.74x crop and less impressive video quality. Unlike the Z 5, it doesn't have IBIS. If your main focus is photography, it offers a lot of value, simplicity, and portability, along with a truly great AF system. Overall, it's a solid option for those looking to upgrade from APS-C or jump straight into full-frame photography without breaking the bank.

I recently bought the Canon EOS RP, and I was able to use my 35mm EF F/2 IS and 70-200 F/4 non-IS lens on it. I am looking for a general propose lens, but I am obsessed with sharpness. Lightweight is a plus, but I prefer sharpness over it.

 But the other thing you have to really consider is the low cost here. Although Canons price point on this camera is absolutely commendable, the problem is in the RF lens mount, we don't have that many affordable choices. I Mean really, you're looking at the 35 millimeter as an option. It's fairly affordable

 It's not great, especially compared to a lot of the other cameras out there which are also pushing 300 and I still wouldn't consider great so it means an extra battery is gonna be a must. You know, if you're shooting very casually, you might get away with it. but really I'd feel uncomfortable having only one or two batteries. The good news: I can charge this camera through USB see didn't even use a power bank I mean that's a nice option if you want to carry it around

That said, the camera has a disappointing battery life that drains after about an hour when recording continuously in 4k, although your mileage may vary depending on your settings and how you use it. The camera can also overheat and shut down during a longer recording session. Despite its limited battery performance, this is still a great all-around vlogging camera that offers a ton of value for its price.

If you're interested in an interchangeable-lens mirrorless camera, consider the Fujifilm X-S10, which is the best 4k camera for YouTube vlogging that we've tested. It has a sturdy-feeling body made of magnesium alloy and plastic, which is comfortable to hold and use. Its in-body stabilization system does a great job smoothing out camera shake, which is important if you're recording handheld. Its screen is fully-articulated, so you can monitor what's being recorded even when the camera is pointed at you.

This camera can shoot sharp 4k video at up to 30 fps without a crop. There are also dedicated high-speed recording modes for 1080p, which allow you to record at 120 or 240 fps and play it back at 2x, 4x, 8x, or 10x slow-motion speed. It supports flat F-Log recording if you plan on color-grading your video in editing, and its built-in View Assist feature can simulate what your footage would look like after it's been color-graded. Overall, it's a great option if you're looking for a versatile, well-built mirrorless camera that offers a fairly wide variety of video features, all at a lower price than many other flagship models.

The Fujifilm X-S10 is the best camera that we've tested for vloggers who want to shoot in 4k. Though the flagship Fujifilm X-T4 has more advanced internal recording capability, the X-S10 shares the same sensor and many of the same video features in a simpler, more portable design, making it a better option for vlogging. On top of that, it has in-body image stabilization to smooth out camera shake when shooting handheld, as well as a fully articulated screen so you can monitor yourself.

This camera delivers excellent overall video quality, especially when shooting in 4k in more controlled lighting conditions. If you prefer to do in-depth color grading on your videos, it also supports F-Log shooting, and it outputs high-quality video files up to 204 Mbps. It also has a simpler control scheme that makes it a great option for bloggers making the leap from their smartphone camera.

Using the same 26-megapixel sensor as the X-T4, this model delivers impressive image quality right out of the box, and users can play around with Fujifilm's 'Film Simulation' profiles to get a different look and tone for their photos. If you take lots of photos in low light, the camera has excellent noise handling capability, so you can raise the ISO in dim lighting without introducing too much digital noise. The camera also features in-body image stabilization to reduce camera shake when taking photos or recording video handheld.

That said, it doesn't have the best battery life. It drains especially quickly when recording 4k video continuously for longer periods, although battery performance can vary drastically with different settings and usage habits. On the upside, it supports USB charging, and you can keep using it while it's charging. It's a versatile mirrorless camera that's still relatively portable, making it well-suited to travel and vlogging on the go. It can shoot 4k and FHD video, and it has good internal recording capability. It also has a remarkable autofocus system that can track moving subjects quickly and reliably. It has a fully articulated screen that lets you monitor yourself while vlogging. Its tested battery life in video is a bit worse, but it supports USB charging, and you can keep using it while it charges, which is handy when traveling.

Go with the Olympus if you want an excellent vlogging camera that's more portable for travel. If you want a camera with a larger sensor, the Fujifilm is a great alternative.

Though it doesn't have the more advanced internal recording capability of the flagship Fujifilm X-T4, it uses the same 26-megapixel sensor and still offers great video capability in a more portable package. It was designed with vloggers in mind, with simpler controls and a bright, fully articulated screen.

On top of having a relatively portable, lightweight design, it also features in-body image stabilization, which does an excellent job of reducing camera shake when shooting handheld, whether you're recording in 4k or 1080p. It can record 4k 8-bit 4:2:0 video internally at bit rates up to 204 Mbps, and if you want even more latitude in color grading your videos, it also supports F-Log recording. You can record at up to 30 fps in 4k and up to 60 fps in 1080p, but it has a high-speed capture mode in 1080p that lets you record at up to 240 fps for slow-motion playback. Its autofocus system reliably keeps moving subjects in focus as well.

It has a disappointing battery life, which only lasts for about an hour of continuous video recording when using its highest quality settings. Battery performance, however, can vary widely depending on your settings and usage habits, and on the upside, the camera supports USB charging. Overall, this is one of the best vlogging cameras with a flip screen that we've tested for most users.

The X-S10 puts more control at your fingertips than the a6100, with front and rear dials for taking control over exposure and a joystick to position the autofocus point. It's a hands-on photographic experience that's a match for the camera's classic SLR-style design, but there's also a fully articulated screen to allow waist-level shooting and video.
The other major benefit the Fujifilm offers is in-body stabilization, which makes it easier to get sharp photos and steady video footage in a range of circumstances. It can shoot at up to 20 frames per second but can't match the Sony for autofocus power and simplicity: AF is generally good but its subject tracking isn't as dependable, so you'll need to work a little harder to keep the AF on your subject.
Video is good, with detailed 4K at up to 30p with no crop and well-controlled rolling shutter. There are also headphone and mic sockets for optimizing audio, too. But the Fujifilm's most compelling feature is its range of Film Simulation color modes, which offer a wide choice of attractive 'looks' for your photos and video, without the need for filters and additional processing.

While the Fujifilm X-S10 isn't cheap, it's one of the best crop sensor mirrorless cameras you can get for the price, so it's a great camera for those who already have a taste for vlogging or are looking to upgrade their setup. There's a lot to love, from a large comfortable handgrip and sturdy design to a fully articulated screen that lets you easily monitor yourself while vlogging. It's also one of the few cameras in its price range to feature in-body image stabilization (IBIS). On top of that, you get a fair amount of frame rates to choose from, a slow-motion recording mode in 1080p, and a solid AF system that's especially well-suited to video, ensuring you or your subject stays in focus.

It isn't the most compact vlogging camera you can get, but it gives aspiring videographers and vloggers all the tools they need to get started and then some. If you're only going to do walk-and-talk style vlogs, you might want to consider a more compact option like the Sony ZV-1 below or even the GoPro HERO9 Black, but all in all, the X-S10 is the most versatile of the bunch and gives you a ton of bang for your buck for different styles of video work.

It's fit for walk-and-talk vlogs thanks to its fully articulated screen, as well as videos that require more of a studio setup. In-body image stabilization (IBIS) helps smooth out camera shake when shooting handheld, and the camera feels great in the hand.

Its biggest downside is battery life, which is a bit limited compared to some competitors, and it can sometimes overheat when recording continuously for long periods. Beyond that, it also uses the same high-resolution sensor found on the X-T4, meaning you get comparable image and video quality at a more affordable price.
