Borrowing the same high-resolution 30.3-megapixel sensor used by longtime pro favorite, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, it can take excellent-quality photos with plenty of leeway for edits and cropping, if needed. Plus, it handles incredibly well, has a high-res EVF and intuitive controls, on top of a great battery life.

The best portrait lenses for Canon's RF-mount can be pricy, like the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 L USM, but you can also find more affordable options, like the Canon RF 85mm F2 Macro IS STM Lens. Even better for those upgrading from a Canon DSLR: Canon's EF-EOS R adapter can adapt EF lenses nearly flawlessly, meaning you can easily use all your favorite Canon DSLR lenses with the EOS R. However, one thing you do lose out on versus the Sony above is in-body image stabilization, which can come in handy when shooting portraits handheld in trickier lighting conditions. The autofocus is also a little more reliable on the Sony camera. Still, the EOS R is an excellent-value option for portraits.

Hi! For the last few years I've been using a canon 5d mk3 for my video projects. It has served me pretty well, but it's time to get a new camera capable of 4k recording with autofocus. With the intention of keep using my canon gear (mostly lenses) I've been looking at Canon's catalog in search for a replacement. However, I cannot afford a R5 camera, my budget is €1500 (around $1800). Would a second hand 5D mk4 worth that price in 2021? Considering I'm only interested in video recording and image quality, what alternatives do you recommend me? Would a 90D do the trick? Maybe wait for an EOS RP upgrade? Should I forget about Canon and look other brands?

While there are cameras out there with more advanced video specs, what the X-S10 offers is more than enough for most content creators. That includes high bit rates, 4k video up to 30 fps, and a slow-motion recording mode that can shoot at up to 240 fps in Full HD. It even supports Log recording, though, with 8-bit internal recording, you may just be better off sticking to one of the included film simulation profiles, some of which (Eterna) are tailored specifically for filmmaking.
