I returned this lens. It just wasn't sharp enough, IQ wasn't very good compared to any of my other Nikons. I took some shots of the moon with it on the D850, and the shots I took with at 105mm and cropped with my 105mm macro were actually better than the ones taken at 300mm with this lens. I ordered a Tamron 70-200 G2 with the money from this and it is much higher quality

8 lens and am blown away by how much cleaner and crisper it is than the 18-45 kit lens. Now when I edit footage I can tell the difference in lighting and video quality from the two lenses. Everything is on a tripod for what I shoot so I don't need a zoom. Should I get a Canon 24mm 2

Manual focus will not work at all. I'm very disappointed with the lack of longevity of this lens. I do not have a disposable income! I would have thought the lens would have lasted a long time since it was a Nikon. Bottom line, if you can afford to replace this lens every 12-14 months, then it's well worth it for the quality and clarity of photos this lens can give you

I am using it on a EOS T5 so the camera remains lightweight. The perfect walk around set-up.

Light weight helps when carrying it around with my D7500 body all day. Highly recommend this lens if you are looking for a great zoom in this focal length range.

Nice fast lens. The autofocus is a bit slow and struggles in dimlighting, but then again, can’t beat the price compared to a USM lens. I’m just starting out and it’s perfect for me.

I checked the calibration and it had gone from +1 to = -5. I then used it for a couple of hours and it started to give me autofocus issues that turned soft again. As an additional symptom of the soft focus issue, VR would sway around not locking on to the subject I was trying to capture. It seesawed back and forth, not really locking on to the subject

General initial shots at 70mm and 300mm confirm that it is tack sharp. It zooms very quickly, if not quite as fast as the 300mm prime. It comes with a, not particularly great, lens bag, and the lens hood is substantial. It focuses very close and whilst no where near macro is going to be great for friendly birds

From the moment I picked up the lens, I knew that it was a complete redesign from the old model, and it sure needed it. On the rear of the lens we now have a metallic mount, something I’m so glad to see. Moving up from the plastic mount has increased it’s weight slightly, but also hugely increases the longevity of this lens. On the front we’ve now got a 49mm filter thread, which is even smaller than the old 52mm thread

We don't knock a lens too much for dim corners, as it's something that's not hard to correct. It's a fine compromise to make in order to achieve such a lightweight design.
