Also for an option for a local bike shop brand the Cannondale CAAD Optimo 4. It's a little more price than the Tomasso for same spec but better reputation, and the big draw is it assembled by your local bike shop and any good local bike shop will help you properly size and adjust the fit of the bike. It's also cheaper than the equivalent Trek and specialized as well as better than the equivalent giant (base giant contend doesn't have carbon fork) so that's why it's my local bike shop recommendation.

I'm in the market for a bicycle after my previous bike -- a Tommaso Forcella I'd bought about four years ago -- was stolen. I'm looking for some recommendations based on the below info:

* I'm a man and just over 6' tall.
* I use the bike primarily for my 4-mile commute into downtown Boston, plus a portion of my other general transport.
* I very occasionally ride for exercise and have a mild interest in touring, which in all likelihood I won't pursue very much but would ideally like a bike capable of handling.
* Though I know the above would suggest a hybrid bike, I'm leaning heavily towards another road bike, for two reasons:
   * I need to be able to carry the bike up a very narrow staircase, which realistically means being able to hold it vertically in front of me, which means weight becomes a significant factor
   * I definitely get more enjoyment out of riding on a lighter bike
* I'm ideally looking for drop bars
* I will need to be able to mount a rear rack with a basket (or maybe panniers) on the back
* I'd like to spend not more than $1000 if possible -- I'm willing to go a little beyond that if necessary to get the best value, but ideally I'd really like to be closer to the $750 range.

Overall, I liked my Forcella and right now my leading option would just be to buy another. But I didn't *love* my old bike, mostly because despite me buying a Large which is meant for riders 5'11"-6'2", it always felt very slightly too small to me -- to get to a point where I felt like I was getting good extension on my downstroke, I had to have the seatpost at its absolute highest, and even then I didn't feel quite right compared to the bike I had previous to the Forcella (an older steel bike). Also, compared to that previous bike I had a lot more issues with pedal strikes on the roadway when making tight turns at speed with the Forcella. I'm by no means an expert rider though, so it's definitely possible that I was overextending.

Does anybody have any recommendations that come to mind based on the above? Or should I just bite the bullet and go with what I know (mostly) works in the Forcella? Does anybody have thoughts on my feeling that the bike was a little on the small side, despite the manufacturer putting me right in the middle of the size range I purchased?

 32 spokes laced a sealed bearing Nova Tech hubs Nova Tech tabs are some of the most consistent hums that you can get for the money. With a lot of entry-level bikes, it's a good idea to upgrade to something like a 200 to 250 dollar. We all set down the line, but with these I think that you would get a pretty marginal upgrade since the hubs are really buttery, smooth and they're sealed so they're not going to need to be maintained and the rims are light enough. What is a bit peculiar about the 4130 core line though is that only some colors have the option to choose between the deep dish wheels and the box-section wheels and always I would go for the box section wheels

 They look really awesome I Got this one in Nightshade Purple and it really does pop. There's also a whole host of other paint jobs that you can choose from. State also gives you the option to choose your preferred handlebar type whether that's risers, drops, or bullhorns, which is something that the competition doesn't offer. and handlebars are one of the most important components to get rights if you want to enjoy riding and be uncomfortable on your bike

 The 4130 core line is good for the price is just that. The Kilo TT pro is amazing for the price, but if you're not in the United States and you can't get one, then the stay 4130 core line is looking like your next best option assuming you get it from a shop and let them deal with state and fixie.  Those deep dish wheels are just heavier for no reason other than looks. As far as the components go, they're pretty generic, basic, but functional. Something to note is that it does come with a 144 BCD crank set, which is slightly better than the competition, but the finish on it it looks like they may have cut some corners and that the front side has this no smooth, consistent finish, but once you turn around to the back, it just looks like that. And like most of the competition, the pedals on this thing just suck and you should upgrade them pretty much immediately
