Best Bike Computer of 2022 - GearLab

 I think the hardware is actually quite good-looking. It'S a fairly sleek looking unit with a perfectly flat face on it. There are some concessions that have been made, though, and that is in the button layout. The bottom two corners have buttons on them, and they've decided to put two buttons on the back, which is, as you can imagine, not ideal, because you cannot see the buttons and what they're labeled

 This thing will also know where you are in the world. On the back of the unit, we have a sort of chopped version of the Garmin quarter-turn interface, I'm guessing that's to just get around certain patents, and that means that these will fit into Garmin mounts, although not quite perfectly but interestingly, Garmin's won't fit into Brighton mounts Because I think the tabs on the Garmin seem a little bit too thick so yeah, I guess there's Garmin mount compatibility, but I think you need to test it on a case by case basis. I think the hardware is actually quite good-looking. It'S a fairly sleek looking unit with a perfectly flat face on it

 Strava commute ride with GPS to get things done quickly. There is also a workout builder, which currently isn't functional a time of review. You can build it in the app put together, sort of time and effort based, workouts and then theoretically, in future, you'll be able to transfer them to the head unit and that's pretty cool to see the unit. That'S only $ 220, although it's not currently working fingers crossed it's working at some point soon

 So let's talk about what it is like to actually ride with the 4:20 and it's quite a nice unit. The screen is really easy to read, which I appreciate. It'S got. Nice contrast, and it's far more readable than I would normally expect for a unit of this size

Reviewing the CHEAPEST World Tour GPS - Bryton Rider 420 Review

I recently had the same dilemma and ended up picking the 4iiii precision on a 105 crank. All else being equal, 4iiii was a tad cheaper at the time and offers a 3 year warranty period (stages only offer 1 year). Both have good reviews and I'm sure you can't go wrong with either (assuming with stages you get gen 3). I hook it up to my bryton 420 with no issues at all

After looking at all of the various options, I'm settling on a left arm power meter. For my amateur purposes, it will do just fine. I see that the [Stages Gen 3](https://store.stagescycling.com/GEN-3-STAGES-POWER-L-105-R7000?length=3&amp;color=2) and the [4iiii Precision](https://4iiii.com/usa/products/pdp/left-side-precision-powermeter-ride-ready/) are in my budget, are about the same price, and seem to be on par with each other, feature wise.

From searching the sub, it looks like in the past there were some dropping issues with Stages, but maybe those have been resolved? I'm pairing this with a Garmin Edge 530, if that helps.

So, are there any thoughts between the two? Also, I don't know the product cycle of these things. Are we expecting anything new to come out next year? I don't have a need for one right now, so I can wait. I'm mostly asking so I'm ready to jump on a good deal if one pops up.

Thoughts on power meters: Stages Gen 3 or 4iii Precision?

.so this is more of a first impression than a full review. This Bryton Rider 420 replaced a VDO MC1.0

I have just had this for a short while (with fewer than 10 rides with it so far)...so this is more of a first impression than a full review

 The button placement is kind of annoying to me. It's also annoying that there's only a down button for the menu but not up. I think the main buttons should be placed on the bottom bezel (should make it more intuitive w/o having to memorize which button does what).  Operationally the GPS speed seems quite accurate (relative to the wired speed sensor of the VDO)

 The app is also a little complicated but again it only takes a few minutes to figure out and then you’re set. You have to spend 150-200 dollars to get a computer from another brand that will compete with this one, and for that extra money it will have a battery life 10-15 hours shorter. A solid product with only a few minor quirks that are more than made up for by the great price.

Battery life claims are apparently fictional

 I can see the numbers quite quickly. I don't need anything flashy. I just need the number data and a couple clicks someone i can get pretty well everything uh and again some a lot of people ask what can you put in these fields? Well, all of these grids you can configure them just check it out. You'Ll have to dig through my other videos, but you can set them up to anything uh

 I thought. Maybe there was an issue with it, but i reset it and it's just like new. So if you get over half the memory foam which took about three to over around the 3 000 kilometers mark, just simply reset it, and if you have it, you have to reattach it to your phone, but once it reattaches to your phone, all the old settings Come back so it's a no-brainer uh five minutes to reboot it on a factory reset hooked to your phone yeah under 10 minutes is back and it's like day one. So it's just a small little thing i mean it's not like you actually have to do anything

 You know it works, really good i'll, probably just keep it. It'S really good waterproof. All that stuff uh charge is pretty quick too just usb yeah, i mean solid unit. I think they're, using this on the pro tour now but uh

 For those of you that like to ride connected I've actually found that the Edge 130 plus holds its connection to my mobile phone better than any other Garmin device which I was surprised by as I expected their bigger devices to have bigger sensors but no this has by far been the most stable. In general I found it to be a remarkably stable device and at first that's because I thought it maybe did less than other devices but honestly that's really not true this is a very powerful little computer that just seems to have been designed really well. In terms of battery life Garmin claim that this device has a 12 hour battery and I think that's probably fair I found that I did a 100km ride and it was paired to my heart rate sensor and it drained about 40% of the device's battery. I then got 3 or 4 smaller rides afterwards which probably took up to about a total of 12 hours before it needed charging again

The Garmin 130 Plus bolsters the bottom end of Garmin's range. It's more of an evolution than a revolution, but the new device picks up features that increase its versatility whilst retaining those that made its predecessor, the Edge 130 so popular.
