Breville Bambino Plus vs Fellow Ode Brew Grinder

Personally, I actually do like this machine for who it's targeted for. What I will do though is just update the portal filter to a Pasado Portafilter ...

Let me say, the Ode Brew grinder is the nicest looking item in my kitchen. As my wife and I were looking to replace our old loud, slow, ugly and inconsistant grinder we had differing thoughts at first. I'm a simple guy, I have an industrial Bunn CWTF in my kitchen because it hooks up to the water main and outputs 200 degree water through the pour over and 180 degrees at the spout. You can imagine my wife's thoughts on this honking huge machine in the kitchen already, but it's functionality trumps all complaints

Here's what the happened with the Breville Bambino. My friend didn't have the right kind of coffee grinder for whole beans, so she bought a few ounces of beans at a Peet's Coffee and asked the barista to grind them to the consistency appropriate for making espresso. She brought it home, and we tried it with the Bambino and---nothing, almost no coffee came out, and what did tasted terrible. Even after making sure NOT to tamp down the coffee in the filter with too much pressure, the Bambino proved INCAPABLE OF 'EXPRESSING' A SINGLE SHOT OF ESPRESSO, GROUND TO ESPRESSO MAKING CONSISTENCY AT A PEET's COFFEE coffee bean seller

1) Beans keep getting stuck in hopper to auger. It depends on type of bean on how often. But frequent enough that it is getting tiresome at times. 2) Grinds and statistics

all i mean to say is, the breville bambino is underpowered and that single boiler machines will allow you to grind finer and extract more flavor. so i do think you will notice a difference if you go to a more expensive machine.

I wanted the coffee to taste better. I had to shake my old grinder occasionally (not as often as with this grinder) but it stayed on until turned off, not until it detected a no load condition. If I had paid $150 for this grinder, I would be a happy puppy. I would accept some problems

My older cheaper ugly Delonghi never had that problem. I'm hoping they can improve the design of the interior of the basket or the holder to better split the water. As for the price, it is not cheap; but with Starbucks' cappuccinos at $3.65 you'll start saving money within a few months

I have worked in local high end coffee shops that roast single origin beans for nearly 6 years. Of course, that means we’re using equipment that costs thousands of dollars on a daily basis to grind and brew coffee. I’d been looking for a good coffee grinder for my home that was not ridiculously expensive years now and this one was it. You can get a high quality grind for a single cup of coffee on fresh beans with this thing and you won’t find a more luxury model and feel or outcome for this price
