I purchased Blueair 211+ Auto. I personally didn't noticed an improvement in air quality, instead the device emenated a sweet then later a plastic burning smell. Got air purifier. I do not fee any difference

 The unit is completely white with the exception of the bottom section, which is equipped with a pre-filter in one of the five available colors. The upper part is plastic which contains the engine. The lower part is metal with filters inside and a pre-filter installed on the outside. It's important to mention the dimensions of the Blue Air 211 Plus air Purifier, which are enormous, so the lack of a carrying handle is noticeable and perhaps the only disadvantage when it comes to the design

 It should definitely be kept in mind that the maintenance of this device is a bit more of an annual basis, but I don't think this should be a problem given the advantages that the Blueair 211 Plus offers. VOCOlinc Smart Air Purifier - Real Reviews?

As someone who lives in the Bay Area (which gets smoked out on what seems like an annual basis during wildfire season), a good air purifier is absolutely critical. I own the Blue Air 211+ and highly recommend it. It also helps me with general seasonal allergies and I've found I sleep better and wake up feeling more refreshed with cleaner air.

Is it worth buying a HEPA air prufier?

 It's hard to describe but the air seems crisp and clean like a sunny day after it rained the day before. I'm thinking of possibly buying a second unit for the guest room but I'll wait some time to see how this unit keeps working and how long before I need a filter change. I hope the odor doesn't come back when I change the filter, but at least it's a temporary inconvenience. Also, I live in Southern California and don't know how this unit works in other climate zones

Solid Performance

We have had several of these units in our house since 2017. I believe they do a decent job at filtering the air, and they are pretty quiet (although with age some of them become a bit noisier as the fan bearing wears -- but even these are not obnoxiously noisy). I was a little disappointed to learn that the filter replacement indicator is just a dumb timer which is supposed to turn orange, and then red after 6 months of use. (I had originally hoped it actually did something clever like detecting when the filter was becoming clogged by monitoring motor current, or something, but no

 Therefore, if you buy this product, I recommend keeping track of the date of each filter change, or use some other method . (I activated an Amazon subscription for replacement filters that automatically sends new filters every 6 months, so when those arrive, I know it's time to change them all out.)  I did contact their customer service about the timer problem, but they were rude to me and refused to believe any of their timers had problems. I didn't follow up; I just ignore the timers and change the filters each 6 months regardless

  So, I do recommend this if you need it to merely keep allergens and occasional light smoke cleaned out of the air. I don't recommend it for heavy, regular smoke or fumes. It's not made for that.  However, check out the larger, more costly unit the same company makes

 I don't know those specs, but I think that might have more filtering capabilities and simply be more powerful. If I buy another one, it will probably be either the very high-end IQ Air MC Multigas unit that cleans 1100 sf and has hyper HEPA filtration and gas removal or the lower-cost unit that Consumer Reports didn't recommend due to ionizing. I will probably use HEPA filters and the small fan I have to make a homemade air cleaner to hold me until we move to see what I need at the new place. I've done that before and simply closed doors when we have fires nearby

  I do think this would work very well for people who simply want to keep allergens at bay or want to keep very light whiffs of smoke such as momentary barbecue smoke that comes in before you have a chance to go close the window. It's very attractive, the outside filter is a knit fabric that is very easy to wash and high to dry while you use the second provided one, and it's so easy to operate. Just a light tap turns it on. Two taps turn it on to medium and three taps turn it on high

  I did think this would work because the marketing materials I read sounded as though this was actually a HEPA filtered machine and as though it handled fumes. However, it is not a true HEPA machine and does not remove fumes. After using it for several hours and especially after a few days, the air that comes out smells like cigarette smoke, even when the air is clear and outside clear air is coming in. So, I have to stop using it and wait for days before somehow that stops happening before using it again
