For beginner/early intermediate skiers, some women's skis I recommend looking into are the Black Pearl 82 (it's heavily recommended and a best seller for a reason), the Volkl Flair 76, Blizzard Phoenix 7.2, the Head Absolut Joy. Out of those options the Black Pearl 82 would be the most versatile and would be the least likely to outgrow quickly.

Picked up a pair of women's Head Wild Joy skis for my wife who has never skied a day in her life. I went to a highly reputable ski shop in the SLC area and really trusted the employee who sold them to me. When I got home, I started doing research and learned that the Head Wild Joy is an expert-level ski. Reviews I read included words like, 'not forgiving', 'technical', etc. I kept mentioning to the guy that I thought they felt stiff af. Turns out they are a 9/10 stiffness. 

Should I return them? Will they really be THAT hard to learn on? My wife absolutely loves them for the color.

 double sidewalls they claim helps the ski stay on edge in ice and crud and the freestyle

 They are a twin so you can totally ski switch, you can totally butter. These are a lightweight

 freestyle ski. You can definitely ski these on the east for a powder. These would definitely

 be more of a powder ski for the east coast but this could be a total everyday driver

 for anybody on the west in variable conditions. When we skied in the trees with these after

 we got through about two inches of powder is what has fallen today there is some icy

 crud underneath and these skis really did handle that crud well. This ski would be

 ideal for somebody who is intermediate to expert. As an intermediate skier I would say

 you want to be in high intermediate looking to improve. This is a ski that you are really

 going to want to progress in the sport on. If you are just looking for a casual intermediate

 cruiser this is not the ski for you. If you are looking to get into all mountain skiing

 and into playful free riding this would be the ski for you. Advanced to expert skiers

 go for it give them a try they are a hoot. They are so much fun so responsive. Different
