 Still I thought they were just the batteries I used so the final time (today) I bought all new Duracell batteries and within 1 hour and a half they were so dim I will never use them again!

 They worked well the next time for the 3 hours I needed them to. I used them the next class time for 3 hours and the batteries drained to a dim light in an hour and one half. Could be made better for commercial use, More battery, maybe rechargeable type like cell phones. This product could be improved.

Good Idea

 It's very bright and between the clip and the stand, it is versatile. My snow blower doesn't have a light but this one clips to the handlebar and nicely lights my path. IT's a very handy light and my new favorite flashlight.

  If you take the time to use Li-ion 14500 battery in the AA tool you get appreciably better performance and it's well worth it. A great pocket light that compares with my equivalent KLARUS but cheaper. I even bought the LUMINTOP tactical TD16 based on this AA light and I wasn't disappointed- awesome spec. and quality within one brand

Getting back to the blue light and battery drain, if you're concerned about long term storage battery drain, I'd recommend you leave a spare battery or two with the light, which you should be doing anyways. For the flashlights in my cars, I always keep a few extra batteries with the flashlight, simple solution. For a long term option (up to 10 years), you can get 1.5V Lithium AA (non-rechargeable)

The beam pattern is perfectly adequate for a tiny light. It has what I would consider a medium hotspot, then a slightly "colored" ring (a warm-ish ring on the "cool" LED) and then the dropoff with all transitions being mild. At about a foot away, the hotspot is roughly 5" in diameter. Perfectly acceptable beam performance for this type of light and better than nearly all "cheapie" flashlights I've seen which usually have a hard hotspot and not much else

0 popped up on a lightning deal, I purchased.  If the ad was upfront that flat tops were no longer supported, a buyer would be making an informed decision then and there. I was expecting I could use the ones I already have, not having to spend more to make it work. I use Li-ion for the superior output, the reason for buying this light

 But having the battery constantly draining was a deal breaker for me. In an emergency, one or two weeks on, if I reach for the flashlight, I need for it to work. Other than that it is a great product. Lumintop even has one without the "back light" as they call it

On/Off button is using the battery (illuminated) all the time (24/7).
