Still that supreme quality of build and materials used from Kessily and just a ton of fun for those on trail carvings

 Welcome to our 2021 ski test. Today we got a Kessley DX 85. This thing is unchanged from last year and is just kind of that frontside slash all-mountain performer. The build is a lot more frontside oriented while the 85 underfoot width does give you a little bit more versatility

 The build is a lot more frontside oriented while the 85 underfoot width does give you

 But really it's kind of a wider carving ski built to Kessley's normal extraordinarily

 high standards of quality and precision.

 Starting with the build, got a pretty dense wood core consisting of fur and beech and

 They use vertical stringers and sandwich them together so it's consistent throughout tip

 It gives you that really nice dense start to the ski.

 Two sheets of metal, two sheets of fiberglass complete this package.

 So it's actually a pretty hefty ski for what it is and some good stiffness to boot.

 So really just that on trail build is going to give you the power that you need to get

 This is a 176 and this is the longest that this ski comes in so it's kind of not really

 an option for someone my size but under six feet or if you kind of just want this build

 like this and it's like oh yeah there's a ton of energy to be had if you take the rocker

 So definitely lending to that frontside mentality.

 Holotec 2.0 so they are taking some of the material out of the tip, not nearly as big

 of an area as on some of the more freeride oriented skis in Kessilies line.

 The removal of the material decreases vibrations because it removes mass and so that keeps

 So it does mean that you're going to be able to get up on that edge a little bit quicker with that stiffer flex overall. So it does help you get up on edge. There's not a whole lot of taper and rocker going on in this ski. Really allows for that smooth tip to tail edge contact and easy skiing

 It has the width to do that, but in more of a frontside shape. So we are built with a blend of poplar and beech wood stringers. So when they sandwich those vertical stringers together, one of the things that gives Kessley kind of a leg up is that they're using thinner stringers of wood. So when they sandwich them all together, it gives you a really cohesive unit, much more precise and agile than a larger stringer, a wider stringer
