 If you are a hard-charging skier, these are not going to be the skis for you, but they were able to carve super, super well on the groomers. These skis are super poppy and super playful. I was able to nose-butter and press these all day long. I would not recommend this ski to somebody who's looking for a stiffer carving ski

I was able to carve some really fast turns on them, and didn't really have them flopping around too much. They were super easy to turn, so definitely good for beginners in that respect.  These skis performed a lot better on the groomers than I thought they were going to,

 since they were more of a beginner ski. I was able to carve some really fast turns on them,

 What Volkl have done is they've built a fairly stable woodcore and wrapped it similar to what they do in the 74 wrapped it in a like a fiberglass wrap. In the 80 it's a little bit softer in the tip and tail so this ski is going to be great for someone who's looking for that all-mountain ski that's going to be super super stable on the piece but not too aggressive so if you're skiing a lot with the family but you still like have that boys trip and you want to smash it but then have those relaxed cooler karma days this would be an absolute fabulous ski for that and what also is pretty cool with this ski is that they've made the binding sit even lower to the ski so it's called low ride and what they've done is reduce the height by about 10 mil so you're sitting even closer to the snow so it's even more responsive. So this is the Volkl Deacon 80, an update on the RTM 81 from last season. It's a great ski, it's a little bit wider underfoot than some of the others in the range which makes it great off the piste but it's thin enough that it performs really well
