Benchmade Crooked River vs Boker Magnum Elk Hunter Fixed Blade Knife

Strangely not a great knife, not even a very good knife, which falls well short of the mark the benchmade made his set. The pocket clip makes holding the knife uncomfortable to say the least. The locking mechanism on the one I received is next to impossible to release once the knife is deployed. I realize this is most likely a defect in this particular knife, but for the price point and the quality the benchmade normally put forward it is truly disappointing

The sheath absolutely sucks. The raw inside of the sheath is all crumbly, and I only got the snap fastener to close around the handle after much work because it was made too small. This is an okay knife, especially for the price, but the sheath is pathetic. The nice thing about it is I won't feel bad about any damage I do to it because I didn't invest a ton of money in it

Good for the money, will work well in salty areas, blade steel is very corrosion resistant. You could spend a lot more, but this is a good working blade. Sheath could be a bit sturdier, would gladly pay a bit more for that.

Let's do a little bit more precision work to cut off some of this outer bark maybe And then If you get a right angle it's easier usually to get feathe...

Good looking product. Sadly, the bolster started coming loose after a couple weeks of use and I'm returning the item. Otherwise the grind was consistent, it took to sharpening pretty well and the edge held up nicely. I may reconsider re-buying this item

The handle, especially, feels light. The carry clip is nice. The orange halo on the pivot is my favorite aesthetic feature on it. The only feature I'm not sold on is the back spacer

Handle and wood working was out of alignment!!! Not a deal breaker on the functional in-hand use --- just not as clean a craftsmanship based on appearances.

And that's my problem with benchmade knives right now. They're good, but they are priced very high when you look at what else is on the market. for like $40 you can get a ZT which is way more overbuilt, usually better blade steels, and still American made. If you get this on sale like I did, snag it
