I gutted my deer wiped the knife off and later that night went to clean it the rust scaling already began. So keep it oiled. For the price Its alright, but nothing special. I know it has a lot of positive reviews however, this has been my experience with this blade

Handles well, this knife is awesome especially for my sheep and mule deer prairie hunts where I carry a lot of gear. I didn't know if i'd like the orange but it's great, you never have to look for it. Great purchase

It works fine for me and given the knife's risk of rusting I'd rather have this design than be able to strike with the spine, but that's personal preference. Handle- handle is a nice, robust micarta which is very well aligned with the tang and very comfortable. It has bow grooves on each side if you need to start a fire the old fashioned way, and it has a nice, wide brass insert at the rear for a lanyard. Not as "pretty" as a hard wood, but never needs waxing, won't warp and is as durable as anything you could use

I have been using my KOA D2 elk hunter for the past ten years. It's a great knife, but at the end of last season I decided to start looking at some of the higher end steels. I am on a bit of a quest to find a knife that will remain sufficiently sharp through an entire elk. I have several benchmade pocket knives and I really like them so I decided to try a couple of their hunting knives to see how I like their design/feel and to test the edge holding retention on elk hide

It's tough. It can do almost anything you want, and has stood up to having had the crap beat out of it. I did order the leather sheath, and it is quality. It is just as sturdy as the knife

This is a spendy knife but it is well worth the price. I purchased the firstlite edition knife because it is $30 cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else at the moment.

It’s a great value, and a great knife for the collection. It performs very well, so long as you know what to expect from what steels. This is a mid-upper knife. Not a “prestige” knife

But for those looking for a tough fixed blade that weighs scant ounces for hunting, this one should be high on the list.

It will not slice smoothly due to thickness. The balance seems off due the weight as well. It will be a great wood processor, but will not be a good overall knife. It is far too heavy for a neck knife and will drag on your pants if on a belt
