Handles well, this knife is awesome especially for my sheep and mule deer prairie hunts where I carry a lot of gear. I didn't know if i'd like the orange but it's great, you never have to look for it. Great purchase

The machine cuts (or jimping) along the lower inside and upper outside edges of the handle and the lower top edge of the blade add just the right amount of traction to an otherwise almost-too-smooth grip. When open, the "flipper" lever rotates around to become the perfect finger stop at the top of the already nicely contoured handle. It fits MY hand very well.

I have been using my KOA D2 elk hunter for the past ten years. It's a great knife, but at the end of last season I decided to start looking at some of the higher end steels. I am on a bit of a quest to find a knife that will remain sufficiently sharp through an entire elk. This is a spendy knife but it is well worth the price. I purchased the firstlite edition knife because it is $30 cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else at the moment.

So, yeah, there are better knives. There are bigger knives. There are better looking, more elegant knives. But for what you pay for it, and what you get in terms of design and build quality, this is a great value

But for those looking for a tough fixed blade that weighs scant ounces for hunting, this one should be high on the list.
