Handles well, this knife is awesome especially for my sheep and mule deer prairie hunts where I carry a lot of gear. I didn't know if i'd like the orange but it's great, you never have to look for it. Great purchase

Not sure what the material is on the handle here, it feels like that Grivex stuff that cold steel use, might not be that. Let's see what it says here,...

I have been using my KOA D2 elk hunter for the past ten years. It's a great knife, but at the end of last season I decided to start looking at some of the higher end steels. I am on a bit of a quest to find a knife that will remain sufficiently sharp through an entire elk. I have several benchmade pocket knives and I really like them so I decided to try a couple of their hunting knives to see how I like their design/feel and to test the edge holding retention on elk hide

What I'm *really* looking for is a 3.25-3.5" skeleton or otherwise very thin handled, Scandi grind neck knife with a sheath that will NOT let the knife fall out in the field under hard hunting/bushcraft/emergency conditions, that sells for around 40 bucks.

This is a spendy knife but it is well worth the price. I purchased the firstlite edition knife because it is $30 cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else at the moment.

The knife is good. Sharpness isnt the best out of the box but if you're into knives sharpness is something you can fix easily. Plastic scales with brick like texturing. Its a $17 knife, you get the material you pay for but in all the knife is really good for the money

But for those looking for a tough fixed blade that weighs scant ounces for hunting, this one should be high on the list.
