With nearly flat soles, the 3d PRO II version of these sandals has just enough added bumps, ridges, and crests in all the right spots to keep our feet firmly on the soles, regardless of incline or moisture levels. Minimalist straps are easily adjustable and more secure than they may appear. Though they look simple, these sandals offer top notch traction and well above average stability.
Though their lack of straps penning in the outsides of your feet allows the Cairn 3D PRO II to accommodate much wider feet than many sandals, we still struggled with the sizing of these unisex shoes. Our lead tester typically wears a 7.5 in women's shoes and ultimately found that she needed a size 9 to be able to keep her whole foot on the Cairn 3D. The strap attached between the toes is far enough forward that even average length toes hung off the end of smaller sandals. And while finding the right size and adjusting for the most secure fit makes these Bedrocks very rugged, they can't quite match the stability and security of cross-toe and cross-foot straps found in many other models. Still, if you're after a minimally designed sandal that still provides support and protection, the Cairn 3D PRO II is a superb choice.

I bought these while visiting my daughter (who wears them) and I haven’t taken them off in 2 weeks! I’m 55 so comfort on my feet is a must and other than my good tennis shoes these shoes NEVER hurt when I’m wearing them or after a full day of walking around in them. I have wide feet and they are perfect! No breaking in needed! Definitely will purchase more! Highly recommend

 I mentioned that in the beginning that you know my teva sandals my feet, sweat a lot in them. Well, these ones seem to be like, like they suck away moisture, and so i am finding myself having to lotion my feet a whole lot more, i'm i think it's the material rather than just that my feet are so like exposed to all the dirt and the Dryness, that is the desert, but i think it's actually the material, because i've worn sandals, i mean i've lived in the desert for a long time and i've. You know you just wear sandals it's too hot, and this is the first time i've ever experienced my feet.  These are very secure and offer great traction/foot protection while in the water (zebra muscles) and on land (rocks, gravel, etc.). 

I did have to go to their main website to purchase a size 14 (hop on it REI) and found a printable sizing sheet which gave me the peace of mind knowing that they'd fit my slightly wider foot. I'd highly recommend printing out their sizing chart before purchase! 

Absolute beast of a sandal

 Haven’t used them in water yet, but they seem to dry fast and the sole looks very sticky and durable. I don’t feel like they will be as good support wise as Chacos, but the fit is so good, they should be ok. I tried the pro model, but liked the flat footbed on these better. Plus they are lighter for travel

2) Ergonomics: Without a toe box or lateral straps, your foot falls on its natural (wide) footprint. Every other adventure sandal in the game constrains your foot on both sides. Even chacos, my previous favorite, would bind your foot and not allow your foot to take up its natural space. With bedrocks, my toes spread out, I balance better, and I move quicker

.can you please make an alternate design sandal with a wide-toe box shape?  I would definitely buy another pair like this, but unfortunately I can use the current design for hiking and would not recommend them for people with wide toes.

  The vibram sole is minimal but still feels rugged and durable.  However, the shape of the sole/footbed has a major flaw in the design.  It has a drastic curve inward which means my pinky toe hangs off the side and I cannot fully splay my toes for optimal balance.  I even got one size up to try and mitigate this but it's still a problem

Bedrock Cairns are a perfect minimalist shoe for folks with normal sized feet -- they are lightweight, hold the foot firmly when scrambling around on rocks, they are lightweight, have a good grip across wet and dry surfaces, and they are lightweight. Far lighter than Teva/Chacos, which was a main attraction for me for backpacking.
