Why hello there! My name is Mountain and today I'd like to talk to you about this and what is this you might ask? Well, this is the Bellroy Melbourne Pack 18 liters. It's designed I think as a compact, relatively minimal urban use bag for people with lighter Edc loadouts. and this is a use case that I think has increased dramatically in this new covid world we live in where people are telecommuting more, going out socially less, and when they do go out, they're just carrying less stuff. I think the bag's main claim to fame might be its overall smaller size, as well as this quick access via this top magnetic flap and deep access via this asymmetrical side zipper that lets you really get into the bottom of the bag

 Conversely, I think its main disadvantage might be its overall I would say average execution at least by Bellroy standards and below average organization and pocketing situation as well as a kind of tightness to the bag. This is a small pack that feels small. Now let's look at a quick overview of this bag. As I mentioned, it's a compact slim bag

 It's just like a hard hard design and that really makes this bag feel constrictive at times. So next let's talk about who this bag is for and who it's not for. So first of all, this bag's bread and butter is going to be for kind of urban dwellers Who are looking for like a bag that carries their lighter loads and nothing really more. So it's just just the right size for like a smaller load Like that's really where this bag excels

Great commute bag

 First up, let's talk about the water bottle holder right here. I've got an 18 ounce hydro flask. There's definitely some room to spare. I wouldn't say this is gonna fit like a one liter nalgene, but if you got like a 20 ounce 22, it should be good to go

 Really nice, soft, smooth leather. Great touch by Bellroy. On the cons though, the straps are a little cutty, which can be a little uncomfortable. I do wish that the laptop compartment had a bit more padding, and while the magnet access is seamless, if you live in an area where theft is a problem, that could be an issue

Bellroy Melbourne Backpack Review [Business / EDC backpack]

 I've just got my notebook in there and just some other small little notebooks as well. And then I've got my 15-inch Macbook Pro in the back here that fits in quite nicely. Let me check to see here. set it off to the side

 um, but yeah. Overall, it's fitting most of my tech here on this side during my week of testing and then this zipper here actually just opens up and really gives you access to the bag. It kind of reminds me of the Osprey Arcane large day pack, which we've reviewed previously. It's kind of nice

 So back here, you've got this, uh, this aqua guard zipper and the dimension of this pocket is about like this. So I've just got some tech accessories in there. I'm trying like not to carry around like a little tech kit with me within this bag, so I fit most of my tech items in here. I still kind of cheated a little bit because I've got this Topo Designs accessory bag on the inside here that I also have

 So Water bottle pocket here. Aluminum hardware strap adjusters at the bottom, which I like. and then we've got plastic strap keepers down here below that just keeps things managed and locked in, which is nice. No mesh on the back, but you got some ample padding, a little air channel in the middle, a bit of foam padding on the sides, so that's also nice
