Austin Air Healthmate HM400 vs Mila Air Purifier

I think that the filter really was defective, because I can't imagine that is how a carbon filter must smell. Others have complained about nasty smells coming from their carbon filters in other units, but I could never live with it if that was normal. I'm sure it was just a bad filter. Anyway, the unit itself worked really well, but without knowing if the filter was at fault or not I can't give it 5 stars

I'll start with the good stuff: I did a bit of research into what air purifier units were recommended by sites that aimed to help those suffering from mold issues (me) and allergy problems. I felt I could trust recommendations by websites that didn't sell air purifiers, only had feedback and input from experts and users as to which ones did a good job. Well, Austin Air came up again and again as a good manufacturer, and I thought this unit was the right fit for what I needed. They do make this same item, the Healthmate, in 2 smaller sizes for less money

The software/app is what sets this air purifier 5 years ahead of all other air purifiers on the market. It's fantastic. It's easy to use, tons of sensor air data and history, awesome auto functionality, interconnected if you own multiple units, it's amazing and the one thing I expect from competitors very soon in the future, or they will likely miss out as other do.

This is an expensive item but when you suffer from asthma you really need something that truly gets to the nitty gritty. I do question the craftsmanship. When we received this and unpacked it we noticed that we heard something rolling around in it. My husband then proceeded to unscrew the top to see what it was

I bought a humidifier to improve my AQI and I think it made the Automagic clean mode freak out. Had to go manual mode to control fan speed. Otherwise I love it. (Newer home / Inland Empire area)

I bought this because I was moving into a nice basement apartment and figured it would be good to get any potentially harmful particles out of the air. I had been looking for one that would cover the square footage that I have and this one was one of the few that could. I wasn't a fan of the price, but I was under the gun and a couple auctions on eBay didn't work out. I haven't had any issues since using this machine

Just got Mila set up in our home for a week now and have to say that she is settling in quite nicely. The air instantly felt and smelled fresher once we had her going. We air-fry and cook a lot and Mila has been able to cut down the cooking smells and fumes in minutes. We have a cat and live at the top floor of our house in an urban area so the mix of both indoor and outdoor odors and air pollution can be quite overwhelming for an allergy sufferer like me and my older son who has chronic asthma

Having to replace the filters, even at a pro-rated discount is too costly. I ended up spending another $250 for 2 new filters after less than a year. Do not be fooled by the 5 year filter claim. It is false advertising as far as I am concerned

level two or three, just know your really washing the air! consideralbly less dust in the in our 1000 sq ft loft.

Easy to vac dust from pre-filter from outside lower section. Good size. Well worth money spent Does what it says it can do plus! Made a big difference in the house. Made in USA

The unit is securely packaged, and it arrived right on time. Setup is extremely easy. All you have to do is take it out of the box, remove the front panel to take the filter out and remove the plastic, then put it back in and plug it in!
