 What a morning it's been. Hi it's Phil from Snow and Rock and here we are with the Atomic Vantage 79 Ti. We were fortunate enough to spend a bit of time with the guys from Atomic out on the slopes where we got to give this a real run for its money with the conditions being a bit hard-packed and fast and I tell you what this new pro-light construction really makes the ski sing. As you're going down the hill you have a great amount of stability in it

 As you can see here what they've done is they've taken the core, they've taken the the top sheet and they hollowed it out a little bit. Now that reduces the swing weight of the ski making your life, my life a bit easier to maneuver it around on the piece but ultimately what it doesn't take away or detract from at all is its stability and performance at high speed and at low speed and when the conditions get a little bit softer in the afternoon you can be confident to know that the the tip and the tail will allow you to engage all the way through and the tip has just enough width on it that allows you to plow through that those mixed conditions but I have to say we had an awesome time so great for the time spent with the guys from Atomic and this is a really really fantastic ski I'm sure you'd enjoy it as well

Designed to promote progression and boost confidence on groomed runs, the Atomic Vantage 79 Ti is a piste ski that rails turns hard without the catchy feeling of some other performance carving skis, while holding their mettle off-piste as well.

Featuring a 79mm waist width, the Vantage 79 Ti benefits from excellent responsiveness edge-to-edge while the addition of a Titanium Tank Mesh within the core adds a level of torsional stability and dampness under-foot that you would expect from a much heavier ski with full-length metal reinforcement.

Atomic use a different construction method than usual for these skis. Rather than milling away material from their raw materials, they start with slimmest possible profile and build up the ski layer by layer alloweing them to create reinforcement in the most crucial areas to provide strength exactly where it's needed, all throughout the skis. A great example of this is the Energy Backbone which assists with edge grip when in a turn.

Pretty stiff actually, that's the one thing we noticed, Camille and I who was testing the women's version, pretty stiff ski, which is good, I like stiff. But what they did is it's stiff, but they don't have a ton of camber in it, so it doesn't perform like an ultra hard like stiff ski

 And they just came up with an incredibly great performing ski that's also light and playful around the mountain, been really impressed with it. All right, so it's 99 underfoot, that's the thickness under your ski boot and 99 is a magic number. I probably ski a 99 underfoot 99% of the time, is that enough 99s, never enough, all right. It just breaks the hundred mark, it's narrow enough that this bad boy cars really good on the groomers, you know, it's not like a slalom ski, but it holds, you can just lay on this thing on hard pack and it will hold

This is the Head 99 Core, K-O-R-E, a hugely popular ski for Head, really changed the game as far as big mountain skis go for performance relative to their weight, okay. So a lot of skis to get performance, they had to be heavy and Head skis of course known for their racing skis and a lot of their skis were high performing skis, stuck to the snow like nobody's business, but they were kind of heavy. And so true to Head, they just totally changed the game with the Karuba Core, that's the wood they used in this ski and then they used graphene to kind of mimic metal to give it that dampness, right
