I hadn't purchased new skis in a while and when the rental shop suggested that I demo the Atomic Maven 86C I was skeptical. I thought to myself, how could they perform that much better? Well wowser was I wrong! The first few runs demonstrated the difference in lightness and performance. I am a casual, intermediate skier .

 That rocker right there on the tip is going to make it a little bit easier for you to initiate your turns, and the camber keeps you feeling stable and a little bit poppy on the groomers. So even though it is a beginner, kind of intermediate ski, I felt like I could do some pretty good carves on it. I would recommend this ski. This ski could honestly go anywhere in the country, probably majority East Coast, West Coast, people who are skiing less snowy conditions because they are 8,600 foot

 right skis for them on Curated. Today we're at Powder Mountain, Utah, and I demoed the

 Atomic Maven 86. Just so you know, I'm not sponsored by any brands, so all of these reviews

 are just totally my opinion. These skis are built with a duracap sidewall, which can really

 help you dig into your turns. As you can see, they are rockered at the tip and a little

 bit camber underneath the foot. But they are not powder skis, and in order to maintain

 control on these skis, you're going to want to be mostly skiing groomers. If you want

 help finding the right skis for you, check out the link in the description, and you can

 you're trying to get some really high speeds or you're trying to go off piste, you're going

 to want something a little bit different from this ski. Different skis work differently

 You know, it might be a little bit light for a true expert. It might be a little stiff for a true intermediate. So really that advanced skier that's looking for a mid 80s underfoot all mountain ski will, you know, find a lot to like about these from the responsive tail to the floaty tip and the grippy waist underfoot, you know, thanks to that more vertical sidewall. So really nice combination of a lot of things here with this ski

 There is enough rocker to, again, you know, kind of help the stiffness of the ski release from the turn easier, a little bit more playful of a feeling. But again, much better suited for firmer snow and, you know, something a little bit more smooth. But that's not to say that it doesn't plow through the chop. It does a really good job for how light it is

 You know, that's not by accident. That is on purpose to make that rockered part seem more light and better for flotation. You know, even though it's not, no one's going to mistake this for a true powder ski. But pretty darn light in the tips, very floaty

 They've kind of taken a lot of the good parts from the Vantage and the Backland line,
