ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM vs Samsung Odyssey G9

These panels are easily good enough for 240hz and in the case of the vg279 qm borderline capable of 280 hertz, while the upgrade from 240 to 280 hertz...

I'm aware that the monitor has been "superseded" by the Samsung Odyssey G9, but I think I'd prefer a 1800R curve over a 1000R curve. I'm afraid there are no others that fit the above specs. First let’s take a look at the resolution and size.. This monitor is 27 inches and has a 1080p resolution

so this does something a more flat ultrawide couldn't and reduces the argument for staying w/ dual 27" setups where one monitor can be angled, important for some workflows, even as going to 49" over dual setup is like adding an extra screen given that most web pages are designed for about 60% the width of standard screen. I'm using Windows PowerToys w/ fancy zones (all free) .. at the moment have it set 3 screen across, though 4 screens across is comfortable too I but transitions webpages into their "narrow" format

However, that's about where the negatives end for this monitor, because everything else ranged from good to holy crap. Let's start with the holy crap,...

Make Amazon replace it and try again and again till you get a working G9 or get a refund.

Best colour accuracy and sharpness is a what I'm after, as well as g-sync compatibility. Looking for something over 120Hz. Stumbled upon the ASUS TUF VG259QM and the MSI MAG251RX, and I like the latter a bit better due to the better contrast and colour accuracy, however I normally play games I run somewhere between 90-170 fps so the 240Hz or 280Hz performance is not something I'll really take advantage of.

Even with the latest RTX 3000 cards from Nvidia, 4K gaming is still not playable... Not like this! And 1440p should have never been made

Very disappointing. Additionally, and this is of no fault to Samsung or the G9, but more an issue with ultrawides in general (this is the first I've used): The huge ultrawide resolution is not well supported in games, and has the opposite effect from whats intended when you upgrade to a monitor like this. Take cyberpunk for instance, it has a real nasty fisheye effect on the sides of the screen that cannot be dealt with without installing third party software and/or hex editing. This may be okay for some but for the $$ I'd expect plug and play

Viewing angles could be better, but as I said, this is for gaming, not watching movies.
