The best 25 inch monitor we've tested is the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM. It delivers an excellent gaming experience with a lightning-fast 280Hz refresh rate, resulting in crystal-clear motion with almost no noticeable blur behind fast-moving objects. It supports both FreeSync and G-SYNC compatible variable refresh rate technologies, ensuring a nearly tear-free gaming experience from almost any source.

Of course, like all good gaming monitors, it has incredibly low input lag, ensuring your actions with your controller or keyboard are in sync with what you see on-screen. It has great visibility in bright rooms, with high peak brightness and good reflection handling. It even supports HDR, although the experience is limited, as it can't get bright enough in HDR to show off bright highlights, and it can't display a wide color gamut.

Sadly, as expected for an IPS monitor, it doesn't look as good in a completely dark room due to its low contrast, just decent black uniformity, and lack of a local dimming feature. It's still a great monitor and is the best 24-25 inch monitor we've tested.

If you want something with a smaller screen, then check out the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM. It's essentially a smaller variant of the ASUS VG279QM, but there are a few differences. The VG259QM has worse out-of-the-box accuracy, but it's still decent, and you won't need to get it calibrated. It also has worse HDR peak brightness, but it doesn't make much difference because both monitors aren't the best for HDR gaming. However, the VG279QM has better reflection handling, making it a better choice for well-lit rooms. Also, the smaller screen size increases pixel density. Besides that, it has the same excellent gaming performance with a fast refresh rate and a quick response time, but its input lag also increases at 60Hz.

If you want the best monitor with a 1080p resolution, then the VG279QM is a great choice, but if you simply prefer something smaller or want to save a bit of money, check out the VG259QM.

If you want a monitor with an even higher refresh rate, check out the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM. It has a worse swivel range because you can't rotate it 360 degrees like the Acer Nitro XF243Y Pbmiiprx. However, at 25 inches, it's just slightly bigger, and it also has a 1080p resolution. You can overclock its native refresh rate of 240Hz up to 280Hz for a smoother and more responsive gaming experience. Additionally, its backlight strobing feature is usable while VRR is active to further improve motion clarity. Unfortunately, it has one big downside as its input lag is much higher at 60Hz, meaning it isn't ideal for 60 fps console gaming.

If you want the best gaming monitor under $300, the Acer is cheaper, and its 165Hz refresh rate is enough for most casual gamers. If you want a monitor with a higher refresh rate and don't mind paying a bit more, go with the ASUS.

If you prefer something with a higher refresh rate, look into the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM. It doesn't have a 360-degree swivel range like the Acer Nitro XF243Y Pbmiiprx, but it still has outstanding ergonomics, making it easy to adjust the screen. Its input lag is higher at 60Hz, so it's not as good of a choice for console gaming. However, it's better for high-frame-rate PC gaming because it has a 240Hz native refresh rate that you can overclock to 280Hz, and the input lag at its max refresh rate is extremely low. It's also a native FreeSync monitor, and NVIDIA certifies it to have G-SYNC compatibility. Sadly, it's not a good choice for HDR gaming due to its low HDR peak brightness and lack of a wide color gamut.

If you're looking for the best budget 1080p gaming monitor, the Acer is a great choice because it's versatile, but if you want something to play high-frame-rate games, then look into the ASUS.

If you want something with an even higher refresh rate, check out the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM. Larger-sized monitors are the norm now, but smaller models have their benefits and are popular for some uses. 24 and 25 inch monitors offer enough screen space for gaming, and it's easier to see everything in your field of vision, like maps, during competitive gaming. These monitors are great for fast-paced FPS games but not as good for more immersive ones like adventure or RPG games. Also, a smaller screen results in a higher pixel density, which translates to better text clarity than larger screens with the same resolution.

Most of the models we've tested in this size have a 1080p resolution. This relatively low resolution puts a lighter load on the graphics card, allowing it to push out more frames per second. Recent models support refresh rates as high as 360Hz, delivering an incredibly smooth and responsive gaming experience. The downside with a small 1080p screen is that you don't get much room for productivity, especially for split-screen multitasking.

The ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM is the best 25 inch gaming monitor we've tested. It has an extremely fast 240Hz refresh rate that you can overclock to 280Hz, and coupled with its outstanding response time, it delivers extremely clear motion in fast-paced games. It also has incredibly low input lag, good for even the best esports gamers. Although it natively only supports FreeSync variable refresh rate (VRR), it's certified by NVIDIA for G-SYNC compatibility on recent NVIDIA graphics cards, meaning you can get the most out of it regardless of your choice of graphics card. If you find the ASUS VG279QM too big, check out the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM. It's a very similar monitor, but it has a smaller 25 inch screen, great for those with limited space. Its smaller size also makes it easier to see the entire screen at once for better awareness in games and results in a higher pixel density for sharper text and images. You can overclock the refresh rate up to 280Hz, and it has a backlight-strobing feature like the bigger model. The response time is quick at its max refresh rate, but it's slower at 60Hz. It also has the same issue where the input lag is 60Hz, so it's not ideal for console gaming.

Overall, these monitors are extremely similar, so it comes down to preference. The VG279QM's bigger screen feels more immersive, but the VG259QM delivers a sharper image due to its higher pixel density.

The Asus TUF Gaming VG259QM isn&rsquo;t the only 240 Hz monitor here, but it&rsquo;s the only one that overclocks to an impressive 280 Hz so impressively. It&rsquo;s not only about the high refresh rate, though. It&rsquo;s also the ability to incorporate FreeSync (despite lacking certification) or G-Sync Compatibility alongside Asus&rsquo; Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB) feature that bests any monitor&rsquo;s overdrive. With those features and 280 Hz, our inputs almost felt predicted. This is the kind of monitor that could help your game. Asus&rsquo; VG259QM topped our response time test and did admirably in terms of absolute input lag.
One of the downsides of this monitor is its HDR capability. Using an IPS panel with 1,000:1 contrast and only DisplayHDR 400 certification, HDR won&rsquo;t look much better than SDR content. And, of course, you&rsquo;ll need a decent graphics card to make the most out of this high-refresh screen.
But if you want one of the fastest monitors on the market, the VG259QM is up there. There are 360 Hz monitors now, but 280 fps is more achievable than 360 fps. And at $319 (opens in new tab), the VG259QM is favorably priced.

The best budget HDR gaming monitor we've tested is the ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM. It delivers a great gaming experience thanks to its fast refresh rate, low input lag, and excellent response time at any refresh rate, resulting in crystal clear motion with very little blur behind fast-moving objects. It's a solid monitor that's well-built and has fantastic ergonomics despite its price point, so you can easily adjust it to your ideal viewing position.

It supports HDR10, but sadly, like all monitors at this price point, it doesn't add much. It's certified for the lowest DisplayHDR tier, DisplayHDR 400, as it can't get very bright in HDR or display a wide color gamut. Unlike the more expensive picks on this list, there's no local dimming, and it has a low contrast ratio, so bright highlights in HDR simply don't stand out.  These panels are easily good enough for 240hz and in the case of the vg279 qm borderline capable of 280 hertz, while the upgrade from 240 to 280 hertz is pretty small in most instances given performance is otherwise the same between, say the vg279qm and lg27gn750. Suddenly that slight bump to refresh rate becomes a selling point normally i'd just say the difference is negligible and not to bother factoring it into your buying decision. But in this case i feel the 280hz refresh rate gives asus an edge in performance. What is less, of a selling point is elm bsync, which, due to double image, issues, only has limited usability, although it is better than other implementations

 Hopefully you have all the information now that you need to go. Buy a nice high refresh rate ips gaming monitor. This is a great one with that 280 hertz refresh rate nice and smooth very clear images with that response. Time combination as well so yeah, as i said, one that i would recommend so yeah

Asus VG279QM Review, The Best Super Fast IPS Monitor You Can Buy

 Now here's where things get complicated and frustrating. Never, and I mean never, turn on ELMB SYNC. It messes up something with G-Sync, which introduces the unbearable input lag that comes with V-sync. In the Nvidia driver, it changes display-scaling to GPU-scaling, and after I turned off ELMB SYNC, nothing would fix G-Sync and the input lag except restoring all the Nvidia settings to default

Literally nothing in the 3d settings was changed, yet the screen still had to flash off and on to apply whatever change fixed it! Furthermore, if you can somehow manage to get ELMB SYNC to work, it's strobing is still inconsistent at different fps values, and doesn't look smooth at all. Lastly, if ELMB SYNC is on, and you have to restart your computer, I swear, half the time it would start the monitor at 144hz, with no immediate way of fixing it

Let’s start with the design
The design of the monitor is gamer oriented,

but still fairly unassuming from the front.
On the back, there are aggressive patterns

scattered throughout, and the stand has some
red accents that pair well with the matte

black finish. This monitor is part of the
Asus TUF line-up, as you can see from the

logo on the stand. The bezels are thin and
it has a slim profile, so it should work well

Although it’s entirely made of plastic,
the build quality is good. It feels solid

all around and has a sturdy stand that supports
the monitor well. The stand also has amazing

ergonomics, some of the best we’ve come
across. It has great height adjustment, 180°

of swivel, good tilt range, and you can rotate
the display in either direction. It’ll please

most people, but if you want to swap it out
for something else, there's a VESA mount on

the back. It doesn’t have a quick release
like other monitors, but at least the option

is there. There’s also a cut out in the
stand to assist with cable management.

Now let’s take a look at the inputs
The input selection of the Asus is fairly

simple, but should satisfy most people. There
are 2 HDMIs, 1 Displayport, an audio line-out,

and a USB port. Although the USB port is likely
only for firmware updates, as there’s no

USB upstream port to communicate with it.
Unfortunately, this monitor uses an external

power brick, which may not be for everyone.
