 Today we were at Powder Mountain and I got to enjoy the Elan Ripstick 106 Black Edition.

 Elan claims that the Ripstick Black Edition 106 is a hard-charging all-mountain ski

 that's capable of skiing anywhere from the groomers to powder to anything ungroomed as well.

 Super easy to carve and smear and holds a great edge so I was super duper impressed by that

 The Elan Ripstick 106 Black Edition is new next year.

 I wouldn't say it's the poppiest ski. You're not going to be taking this into the park.

 This is going to be that ski that's just great for ripping on and off trail.

 Maybe not the best in mogul since it is a little bit wide at that 106.

 With these, these are a little unique from some of the other skis that we've got to jump on this week.

 I think that you can ride the Elan Ripstick Black Edition at any speed.

 But at slower speeds and when we were smearing turns and going a bit slower, I did feel confident as well.

 I would recommend the Elan Ripstick Black Edition 106 to any of those expert all mountain or powder skiers out there.

 If you're just getting into skiing or are a beginner, I would definitely not recommend this ski for you

 as it does take a lot of work to drive and use this ski properly.

 Skis work differently for different types of skiers.

 Unless your planning on using them as a 50/50 setup or *know* your style/technique will benefit from light skis, you're almost certainly going to better off with the heavier option. More mass means more damping to cut to the short of it.

The Elan is about $80 more than the Mindbender. I am an intermediate skier looking to progress to tougher blacks, and will mainly be skiing in the NE/ice coast (but want to take them out west too). Any opinions one way or the other? Thanks y'all!

Elan Ripstick 96 vs. K2 Mindbender 90Ti?

I am 6'2" and 210 lbs. riding a pair of 188's, perfect size for me. Snow conditions were not good, very hard pack on piste, off piste was 1" of new over chunk ice. Off piste was essentially not skiable

 These skis rock on piste. Super stable at high speed and really turnable. For the conditions, they were a lot of fun! I am looking forward to trying them off piste with decent snow.
