 okay, more than occasional ...  but I've never had a ski that looked this beat up after half a season

My problem is that the tips are really fragile, and I'm also seeing some delamination. The first day I took them out for an easy backcountry tour through some low-angle trees, the edge got bent on one of the tips. I got that repaired, and then it happened again. I'll grant that I ski aggressively and I'm not afraid of scraping over the occasional rock or tree root 

 I like my Route 105s (175 cm) the best as an all-around ski. I'm still going to ski on them, but I'm looking for a tip guard and I'll need some epoxy for the topsheet. And also *another* tip repair.

.  but I've never had a ski that looked this beat up after half a season. I've never even seen this kind of tip damage, including previous skis from Black Diamond.

 There's a reason a ski tip rises up, and the folks designing this ski seemed to push the limits of a low profile tip way too far. Far more likely to catch the tip and bail on this ski than any i've skied.

The tip though - straight up dangerous to have such a low rise tip. They catch on all manner of things from just crust, to debris, even while skinning if the track undulate a lot. There's a reason a ski tip rises up, and the folks designing this ski seemed to push the limits of a low profile tip way too far. Firs the good: top sheet seems super durable. Skis seem bomber, a great shape for what i do, takes soft snow in style seem strong enough for plenty of hardback though i have yet to encounter much with them.

Awesome, except one fatal flaw

Overall fantastic boards. Get yourself a light pair of bindings and boots and, with these skis, you're due for an ultimate BC setup.

I would personaly have liked a slightly more up turned shovel on the noses to assist better with late season skiing through dips and ditches.

Not the fairest comparison given construction and weight differences, but my stand out impression, when comparing the two is how well the routes perform in a variety of conditions for their overall mass and i feel this is where they "realy punch above their weight" Not the lightest skis in the BD collection, but along way from being the heaviest with better performance and stability than a carbon ski, whilst being less taxing on the hip pocket. So far i have been impressed with their durability skiing late season corn with plenty of rocks and dirt mixed into the surface conditions skiing between snow patches. Lots of abuse getting thrown accross streams and over logs and fun stuff like that.
