 It's also, infuriatingly, saddled with an OS that still embraces a 2012-era idea of tablet computing. The result is an amazing tablet that can't quite justify its luxury-laptop-level price, because you still need a computer running a non-tablet OS if you want to open more than three windows or use a second monitor.

 Or you need to take elements from two emails and a bunch of Facebook messages and slot them into a spreadsheet, which you would also like to keep open as you paste it into PowerPoint. There is an iPad workflow that lets you do these things, but it involves a lot of flipping apps back and forth; it's much more awkward than on MacOS or Windows. (And don't get me started on transferring files between apps, which at least is now possible but is often more complex than it needs to be.)

The XDR display on the 12.9-inch (and only the 12.9-inch) iPad Pro is staggeringly good. Instead of a handful of backlights like on most LCDs, or self-illuminating pixels like on OLEDs, this screen has 10,000 tiny LED backlights divided into 2,500 "local dimming zones

 (The iPad Air is the runner-up.) When playing "All The Things That I've Done" by the Killers on YouTube, for instance, I heard everything from the high-hats to the organ overtones; many of those sounds are missing when I listen to the song on cheap tablets or my laptop.

 I switched to the M1 MacBook Pro in 2020 and the improvements were astounding. Those improvements don't really seem to have quite the same impact on the iPad, and that's mostly because it's still a victim to iPadOS. I don't imagine that Apple has any plans on allowing its iPads to run MacOS, due to cannibalization of the MacBook market, but iPadOS has its limitations. I do not think the iPad is ready to replace your laptop quite yet, but the power is there to do so

 It's not terrible, but it is something to be aware of.  The battery life is essentially identical to previous generations, and Apple reflects that in its specs. What additional battery life that might have been gained with the M1 chip was probably immediately sucked away with the inclusion of the XDR display. Battery life is totally fine, it's just not better

Apple still dominates the tablet market.

 However, the iPad Pro 12.9 is not always ahead of its 11-inch sibling regarding colour reproduction and dark surroundings. The use of PWM for brightness control in the 12.9-inch model will also upset some people

Most people would be better served with the smaller 11-inch model or the iPad Air. Additionally, you should consider the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus or the Surface Pro series if you are looking for greater software flexibility. Verdict - Mini LED, and an M1 SoC create almost the perfect tablet

9”, this is not as big of an improvement as I thought it would be.  Yes, this is faster but unless you’re a pro or gamer, you probably won’t notice a big difference from the chips a few years ago. Bloom! ...on an otherwise very nice device.

 The battery life is awesome. I can sit and edit for hours without being interrupted to charge it. I actually don’t think it’s ever told me to charge it, I just do after I am done with it. The touch screen is very responsive as well

The M1 makes a huge difference. + the camera is amazing and the depth sensor opens worlds of possibilities for immersive, but you’ll likely rarely use it + it’s an Apple so the resell value is great.  - Apple really needs to just commit to one port type. This is lightning (USB C) which is great, but most apple products are still lightning. More of an annoyance, but make up your mind Apple! - it’s almost a PC replacement but not quite there for most people. Certain user types may be able yo replace their PC or Mac but I still see it as a secondary device

 At one point she couldnt update the application anymore.  We bought the iPad Pro 5th generation as a pre release. Like all things Apple, you’re definitely paying a premium but for someone who is serious about their art of craft - worth it.  Pros: + the processing power is a BEAST

Waited to upgrade for several years - worth it!

This 12.9 iPad is huge and heavy, making it inconvenient to use, which is exactly what the iPad was designed NOT to be. The screen is "ghosting," meaning if you're using at night on a black background, white letters or images have a halo effect. Not good for night time use

Additionally, I bought the keyboard. Again, too expensive, cumbersome, and lackluster. For a keyboard as large as the MacBook Air, the iPad12.9 is strange

Not a fan. I bought this to grade papers and write a book. What I found was an overly expensive iPad that lacks the functionality of my old iPad, 10inch-ish. My old iPad was lighter, more comfortable to hold, and easier to pack away in my backpack

 The smaller iPad is cute, but the 12.9" screen size was better for us and the 2TB capacity makes this the perfect iPad for us.

Now, this is Samsung's latest tablet that was just released about a week ago, and its main selling point is the price, coming in at just $350. And this is significantly cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, which comes in at $650. We have a very similar screen size at 10

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Unboxing & First Impressions!

 Hey guys, how's it going? In this video, we're going to be doing an unboxing and I'm going to

 give my first impressions on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. Now, this is Samsung's latest tablet

 that was just released about a week ago, and its main selling point is the price, coming in at just

 $350. And this is significantly cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6, which comes in at $650.

 We have a very similar screen size at 10.4 inches, opposed to 10.5 inches on the Tab S6.

 We also have the exact same battery capacity here on the Tab S6 Lite, but there are some compromises

 being made in the processor and in the display, which we'll get into in a bit here. I personally

 have the blue color here, but this also comes in pink and gray variants. But let's go ahead

 and check out the Tab S6 Lite. Have our device on top, see what else we get in the box. We have a

 15 watt fast charging brick. We have a USB type A to type C charging cable. We have an ejection

 tool for the micro SD card slot and some general paperwork. On the bottom here, we have our S-Pen.

 We have some very subtle Samsung branding on the end here. We have our physical button and on this

 S-Pen, we have a white tip. We can see here on the Tab S6 S-Pen, it's rounded on both sides here,

 but here on the S-Pen for the Tab S6 Lite, it's rounded all the way around, except for a flat edge

 here on this side. Similar to the Apple Pencil, how it's rounded all the way around, except for

 the one side, which has the flat edge, which magnetically attaches to the side of the tablet.

 Now let's go ahead and check out the Tab S6 Lite. All right, so this is a bit of a darker

 shade of blue than I was expecting just from the boxing. I feel like it looks slightly different

 than what's on the box. It seems to be a lighter shade, but I'm personally perfectly fine with that.

 There is also a pretty decent amount of weight to this tablet, which I wasn't expecting either

 for maybe because it has Lite in its name, but this is actually a pretty sturdy and solid feeling

 tablet here. We do have those AKG speakers on here, which is great to see, although it is a

 dual speaker setup, opposed to a quad speaker setup, but I think having those dual speakers

 will be sufficient. We'll check out the audio quality here in a bit. On the top here, we have

 our mic and a headphone jack, nothing on the left side of the device. On the right side, we have our

 power button and volume rockers, and towards the bottom here, we have our micro SD card slot for

 additional storage. We have our type C port for charging, and we have a single camera setup,

 which is an eight megapixel camera and can shoot 1080p 30. Also taking a look at the S Pen connection

 to the tablet, it snaps on very nicely. It feels to have a very strong magnet. So this is a very

 similar setup to how it is on the newer iPads, but honestly, this seems to be a more stable

 connection here. On the iPads here, the smallest bit of touch will make this pen go flying,

 but the connection here on the Tab S6 Lite seems to be a lot sturdier. People usually like when I

 add that. As I mentioned before, we have pretty similarly sized displays on the Tab S6 on the

 left here and the Tab S6 Lite on the right here. The only difference I could really see is that

 the Tab S6 Lite is just a little bit more narrow. You can just see that little bit of size difference

 there, but overall a pretty similar screen size. All right, so we're all set up now. Let's start

 out with the face recognition. So the face recognition is very responsive. As soon as you

 power up the device, it is unlocking very quickly, and it does not matter what orientation you're in.

 You can also hold it landscape like this, and it's going to unlock just the same. Next, I want to

 talk about the screen. So on the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, we have a 2000 by 1200 pixel display,

 in addition to it not being an AMOLED display. So compare that to the Galaxy Tab S6, which has a

 2560 by 1600 pixel display, which that may not sound like much on paper, but when you have a

 device with a screen this large, you can definitely notice those differences. Everything just looks a

 lot more crisp on the display of the Tab S6. Colors are also a lot more vibrant, but with other

 devices aside, you're not doing side-by-side direct comparisons. Just looking at this tablet alone,

 it honestly looks fine, and you're going to have a good viewing experience. And the other main

 compromise that I mentioned at the beginning of this video is the processor used in the Galaxy Tab

 S6 Lite, which is the Exynos 9611. Now, you might think this is a deal breaker, but this is the same

 processor that is used in the Galaxy A51, which is a phone that I have been highly recommending here

 on the channel. And there are slight bits of lag here and there. You might be going into an interface,

 and it just takes a split second longer to open. But when I was setting up this tablet, everything

 ran perfectly smooth. Nothing was lagging. So with that in mind, let's check out a couple games here

 and test out the overall performance. All right, so the first game I have up and running here is

 Stardew Valley. This is a game that I play a lot personally and show a lot in my videos, and this

 honestly is running very smooth. You can usually tell very easily if the device can handle the

 game or not, because when the camera moves with your character, it can sometimes look very laggy

 and jaggedy. But it is honestly a very smooth experience here on the Tab S6 Lite with no issues

 so far. And just another quick look here at the game with tablet in hand. Honestly, this rounded

 design looks very nice, and I think the bezels are perfectly sized. You can rest your fingers on them

 without accidental touches. I'm really liking the overall look and design here. Next up here,

 we have Old School RuneScape. And this game runs on many mobile devices, but the experience is very

 smooth here. And I think a huge selling point is having this S Pen. I really prefer to play this

 game with an S Pen or some sort of stylus where you need to tap in very precise areas like on the

 minimap. And when you use this S Pen and hold it over the screen, you do get a little icon that

 shows up similar to a mouse pointer. So you're able to tap exactly where you need to touch without

 any issues. And lastly here, we just have a little bit of Call of Duty Mobile. This has been running

 very smoothly so far, no issues at all. The tablet is not like too big to play something like this.

 It's definitely a good size. Initially here, very happy with the overall performance. Next,

 let's jump into some YouTube content, see how the video looks and see how that dual speaker setup

 sounds. And after some extensive usage, I want to talk to you about some new experiences I've had

 and share some insight on whether or not the Note 10 Lite is the phone to go with considering all of

 Samsung's other mid-range offerings here in 2020. In terms of audio, that dual speaker setup should

 be sufficiently loud for your needs. That content doesn't completely fill the screen. We do have a

 little bit of a black bar at the top and bottom, but honestly, this is definitely a great viewing

 experience for watching YouTube. And now taking another look at the S Pen here, this is actually

 a great drawing and writing experience. You might think because this is more of a budget device,

 you're not going to get as good of an experience here from the S Pen and because it's lighter

 weight and maybe cheaper feeling. But honestly, this is a great experience here. You can see that

 everything is just super smooth. There's no lag at all. And in terms of things like palm rejection,

 you definitely don't have to worry about it. I have my hand entirely on the screen here

 without any issues at all. Again here, writing is just smooth. It glides across the screen. It

 works great. And the reason I keep bringing that up is because you may see a device like this and

 you might look at the spec sheet and see that the processor is inferior to more flagship processors.

 But honestly, everything I've done so far in this initial video, it has run smooth. It's run great.

 Everything is working as intended here. And that's going to bring us to my first impressions on the

 Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. And if you couldn't tell already, I am initially very impressed by

 this tablet. Again, you may look at the spec sheets before even getting your hands on something like

 this and just write it off because it has an inferior processor and an inferior display,

 so on and so forth. But so far, everything about the Tab S6 Lite I've really enjoyed here. The

 overall look of this blue is nice. I really like the S Pen and it magnetically attaching to the

 tablet. The face recognition works great, gets you into your device very quickly. All the games I ran

 so far worked really well. YouTube content looked good. The speakers sound great. If you're an

 average consumer just looking for a general tablet experience, this is definitely a great option.

 You're definitely going to be treating yourself to something like this, even though it may not

 be as specced out, the Galaxy Tab S6. And I do definitely agree you are missing out on that

 AMOLED display experience. But again, when you're just looking at this tablet here and not comparing

 it to something twice the price of it, this is honestly a great overall package here. And I'm

 very excited to bring you guys my full review on the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. But what are your thoughts

But for regular users? Take this money and spend it on the lowest-priced iPad, and take advantage of what the iPad OS and its ecosystem offer, which will—for most users—be far more appropriate.

But also as a user, there's no denying that while an iPad edges ever closer to a legitimate laptop replacement (albeit with restrictions I struggle to live with—hence buying this), an Android tablet is still just a giant Android phone—with mostly phone-like apps, and far fewer of them, than iPad OS with its increasingly serious productivity ecosystem

I'll preface this review by saying: (1) I strongly prefer Android to iOS as an environment (2) This review may not be entirely "fair" to Samsung, but it's fair to users/would-be buyers I own an iPad Pro already, but there are some significant things that I wanted from this tablet: - Something more "holdable" with a large screen, which you can't get with Apple's 4:3 screen shape - The ability to access and cary files from my "main" computer far more easily than is possible with iOS - The ability to run Termux for Linux access - The ability to use a mouse with my tablet at times on the go, with a *pointer* All of those things meant that I needed an Android tablet. In the past I'd have gone with Huawei but now they're not a good bet due to all the geopolitical intrigue and software limitations. I didn't pick up the Tab A because it doesn't have a light sensor (no screen auto-brightness) or a full S6 because the price was just too high. So the S6 Lite seemed like the right bet

 We got between 8 hours and 10 hours on our different battery tests. The real-life use is an endurance gem.  The Tab S6 Lite has the benefit of being more portable than the base iPad, so it's the better choice if you want that small form factor. It also comes with its own excellent stylus in the box, so that's a cover with one payment of $350. And the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite comes with 64GB of internal storage, which you can further expand with a microSD card. In contrast, the $330 iPad has just half of that, 32GB of memory

 Is it an iPad killer, though? The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is a narrow and rather light tablet that's

 very easy to carry around and use in portrait or landscape mode. The bezel around the screen

 strikes a perfect balance between being thin enough to look modern, yet thick enough to easily

 grip without accidentally touching the screen. The stylus here is the S Pen. It uses Wacom technology

 for speed and precision, and Samsung has become adept at making these feel good after years of

 making them. In other words, it's one of the best around. When not in use, you can attach the S Pen

 to the right side of the tablet via a strong magnet. It's cool to have a way to store it,

 and the only gripe we have with it is that it gets in the way when you're holding the tablet

 with two hands in an upright position. The S6 Lite's screen resolution is 1200 x 2000 pixels,

 making for a pixel density of 224 ppi. In terms of sharpness, the resolution is…
