 (You should be able to slip an included thin card between the extruder nozzle and platform, meeting only slight resistance.) Under each corner of the platform is a knob, the turning of which raises or lowers that corner. You move the extruder to each corner in turn, slipping the card between nozzle and platform and adjusting the knob if needed, to make sure the alignment is correct. You then repeat the process at least once, re-checking all four corners plus the platform's center

 Although we recommend that beginners stick with PLA because of its ease of use, more experienced users may want to experiment with the other filaments.

 It supports a variety of filament types and employs fused filament fabrication&nbsp;(FFF) technology. The price is attractive for those new to or wanting to experiment with 3D printing, but know that its print-bed alignment proved to be finicky in our tests, which had an impact on the print quality of at least one of our test objects. Still, although it may involve some tinkering and a learning curve, the Mega S is easy enough to assemble and is a good choice for beginners&mdash;just make sure that youngsters don't get too close to the exposed, hot extruder.

Purchase Advice Megathread: What To Buy, Who To Buy It From, And More, In January 2021

  The point is, I'm doing fast, simple stuff, so YMMV.  I can print 3 frames in 3.25 hours whereas the Makerbots print 2 in 4 hours, with rafts. The three use the same amount of filament as one on the Makerbot

 Also have Mega S for boutique prints and testing slicer settings.  I feel I have already got most of the value out of my printers in this project and have used over 50 reels of filament.

  The Ultrabase sticks reliably. Things went of the rails a bit after half a a dozen prints, but I realized that grease from my fingers was messing with adhesion. I cleaned the bed with Windex (generic) and became a lot more careful. Things have been sweet since then, I check level and clean the plate every three days,  How long it will last, and how difficult it will be to replace the extruder with the provided spare, I have yet to discover

Great at price-point

 I can go smaller (220X220X300 is fine but don't really want under 8''). I want something precise enough to be able to assemble parts and can repeat itself were I can replace those assembled parts.

 Period. This machine is actually underpriced for the quality it outputs.  I bought my first 3D printer over a year and a half ago after doing extensive research (as you are most likely doing now) I purchased an i3 Mega. I was very excited to enter into this new area of 3D Printing

 With these changes, the owls printed again, better than the initial run. A different color film also worked perfectly. Three stars, because if you are not tech savvy and patient, this won't work for you. This is a step above something home built, but not plug and play with zero issues

 Do you know anything with the under six? No, i don't know that's okay. Next time the inner six boasts a build speed of 150 millimeters a second now, that's pretty fast, that's uh, almost three times faster than the ender five and the inner three this uh. This is all thanks to the core xy platform that creality has built at the top of this printer. This is a well welcomed, upgrade that complements the increased build volume which will allow you to print faster in a bigger surface area

 I could say that i'm pretty happy with it. It was able to print really fast print larger, build volumes than the under five and your three and prints them in pretty high quality. I did realize that it is a quiet printer, but once the xy core kicks in it, definitely bumps up the volume a little bit now, whether noise matters to you or not. That is something to consider when looking to the under six that and the weight thanks to the four acrylic walls that make up this printer, i would recommend it to beginners that are looking for a printer with a little bit of a higher price point when compared To the other five or the nd3v2 that are looking for the additional features and the additional build volume, this printer definitely is capable of all of that

 The semi-enclosed build volume is great at protecting from drafts and other elements during the printing process when compared to its predecessor the ender 5. The ender 6 does a much better job at securing the build platform when secured to the z-axis. This is thanks to improved fabrication. On the joints on the lead screen, this helps to reduce the amount of flex on the build platform, while printing leading to better quality prints and who doesn't like better quality prints

 So very easy just drops right in here and that little pole in the back and you're going to take four of the m 5 by 25 screws. All right! Creality Ender 6 Unboxing, Build & Test Prints

Then I started looking at the Ender 6. It’s not that much of an upgrade in terms of build volume (250 X 250 X 400) compared to my Ender 3 pro (220 X 220 X 250) but it is an improvement. I’m really interested in the CoreXY printing, but the lack of included BLtouch bums me out. 

Lastly- I’m looking at the CR-6 Max which had a 400x400x400 build volume and an automatic leveling system built into the hit end, so no extra sensor needs.  This tops out my budget but looks like the best of all worlds.

Keeping this discussion to one thread means less searching should anyone have questions that may already have been answered here, as well as more visibility to inquiries in general, as comments made here will be visible for the entire month stuck to the top of the sub, and then linked to in the next month's thread.

If you are new to 3D printing, and are unsure of what to ask, try to include the following in your posts as a minimum:

* Your budget, set at a numeric amount. Saying "cheap," or "money is not a problem" is not an answer people can do much with. 3D printers can cost $100, they can cost $10,000,000, and anywhere in between. A rough idea of what you're looking for is essential to figuring out anything else.
* Your country of residence.
* If you are willing to build the printer from a kit, and what your level of experience is with electronic maintenance and construction if so.
* What you wish to do with the printer.
* Any extenuating circumstances that would restrict you from using machines that would otherwise fit your needs (limited space for the printer, enclosure requirement, must be purchased through educational intermediary, etc).

While this is by no means an exhaustive list of what can be included in your posts, these questions should help paint enough of a picture to get started. Don't be afraid to ask more questions, and never worry about asking too many. The people posting in this thread are here because they want to give advice, and any questions you have answered may be useful to others later on, when they read through this thread looking for answers of their own. Everyone here was new once, so chances are whoever is replying to you has a good idea of how you feel currently.

Additionally, a quick word on print quality: Most FDM/FFF (that is, filament based) printers are capable of approximately the same tolerances and print appearance, as the biggest limiting factor is in the nature of extruded plastic. **Asking if a machine has "good prints," or saying "I don't expect the best quality for $xxx" isn't actually relevant for the most part** with regards to these machines. Should you need additional detail and higher tolerances, you may want to explore SLA, DLP, and other photoresin options, as those *do* offer an increase in overall quality. If you are interested in resin machines, make sure you are aware of [how to use them safely](https://www.reddit.com/r/3DPrinting/wiki/resinprinting#wiki_safety). For these safety reasons we don't usually recommend a resin printer as someone's first printer.

Purchase Advice Megathread - November

  There are few other issues to note related to usability: 1. The LCD display is big enough, but lot of unused space. Does not show the filename fully (or even decent length). It is common to have files named: MonsterTruck_Medium_1of3
