I tried multiple times to have the Amazon Music service on the SONGBIRD app. I worked with support from Andover but we were unsuccessful. They eventually told me to return the unit for replacement. Still unable to stream Amazon music within the Songbird app and the new unit

If money is important, you should consider the Andover Songbird or the Arylic S50 Pro+. I have the Songbird at $150 and it does everything I need it to do. The Arylic is a bit more flexible but more similar than not and sells for $219. You do not get all the features that the far more expensive units offer but damned close

I've been frustrated with Spotify's quality directly from the Firestick/PS4, so I currently have my laptop hooked into my receiver. I've noticed digital streamers are pretty expensive, but bluesound makes a nice streamer that's ~$500. I'm just curious if there are other alternatives for those of us who stream music often but want high quality!

  HOWEVER, there was a problem: several online services I use, like Pandora and Deezer, were not on the Songbird's menu, and I couldn't find any advice on how to access them on the manufacturer's website.  After a lot of online searching, I found the answer, which I'm sure is obvious to the more tech-savvy, who are all screaming "USE AIRPLAY!" (or the Android equivalent.)  If you are as unfamiliar with Airplay as I was, here's what you do (after you have the Songbird working using the sources it its menu.)  1

In a world where a "bargain" streamer costs upward of $300, the Songbird is a real breakthrough. Setup takes a few minutes, using voice prompts from the device and an app you download to your smart phone. (Just make sure your phone and the Songbird are on the same wifi network)  In my case, one setup was done the music on my ancient Mac (using iTunes and an equally ancient Logitech Media Server) appeared instantly and played with great audio quality. Additionally, the Songbird app showed a number of online audioservices, and the ones I tried also worked fine

 Deezer, the KDFC and NPR apps etc)  You'll probably have to re-establish the airplay connection if you take your phone out of range, or switch it to earbuds or whatever, but sorting that out is easy if you understand the basic principle of what you're doing: You are playing these sources ON YOUR PHONE, but using your sound system (via Airplay and the Songbird) as the speaker for that phone.

..and with the better CODECs like aptX (Note 8, S9) was pretty good.  Mentioning Bluetooth, if you have IOS you have some limits on audio rate, and if on Android, you need to open up developer options to pick the better BT codecs

 and THAT is a shame...  So, knowing that for the finest possible sound quality you will need an external DAC that supports DSD/MQA (~$800 & up) bear this in mind when comparing this Vs more integrated streamers with better DAC analog designs

.and to the not so good.  My receiver is an outstanding Sunfire TGR3, but its from 2005, and the included 24/96 DACs simply blow away the analog audio quality of the Node2i, despite the dozen newer generations of DACs and the MQA & higher sampling rates of the DAC within the node2i.

 BlueOS could learn a lot from Onkyo's HD player on iTunes. That's an awful lot of problems to encounter in such a short period. Thinking of sending it back--it'll all depend on the sound once I get the replacement power cord.  It also seems incapable of creating a local network share on my Mac

 That said, the sound quality is good with a direct digital connection--better than I thought it might be, considering it has an internal power supply. I expect the clarity will improve with a decent power cable. It's a pity there's not an Equalizer (I'm not that much of a purist)--just treble and bass controls.  The software isn't nearly as good as it should be--not by a long shot

I've had the thing three days, and these are my impressions so far: The first thing you should know is there is a very clear sound quality difference between a direct connection input and streaming wirelessly. Streaming 24/192 wireless over a stable broadband network--I won't say it's bad sound quality, but it did eliminate all the glorious mids of my tube amp.  (I shared the comments from BluOs with the vendor of the Mscaler who was surprised about the comments) So after a while I thought well I will not use the Mscaler on the Node 2I any more. Then fast forward, November 2021, firmware was updated and the windows software was updated, suddenly I cannot connect any more any bleutooth device anymore (it still worked with the android app, so it was not the unit). I contacted support again and got this message back, "Thank you for contacting the BluOS Support Crew. We have been able to reproduce this issue here in our labs

"  But now January still no update, I still had the previous installer on my computer so installed that version, so it is working again.  Bottom line the unit sounds great. The unit does not work with upscalers. Support is below expectation

From verry happy to not so happy

I agree with many of the other reviews so far: both the positive and the negative. It really is a nifty device, as another reviewer called it. Sound quality is excellent (although I'm not certain how much of that to attribute to the Node vs. other elements of my system)

 IMO it isn't as terrible as some others suggest, but there is a learning curve. On the other hand, for the most part I can use the Node without the Bluesound software controls. I can use Roon, iTunes, or Pandora instead for most functions other than set-up (such as mapping IR remote control operations.)

 Sound quality is excellent (although I'm not certain how much of that to attribute to the Node vs. other elements of my system). The form factor is small and relatively inconspicuous. I love being able to map my amplifier's IR remote control functions to the Node, so I don't need to open up a software application every time I want to skip a track, mute, etc

 The output tubes are still stock. This thing's a beast. It weighs a ton and has just enough edge on attacks and excess current capacity that it can really make the Avantgarde's go. It may not have the midrange beauty of 300B's, but the 211 is the kind of wild I like

Phono Pre - Simaudio Moon 110LP v2 - This is a great little phono pre for the money. It has a ton of loading options for its level and sounds great.

 Huge step up from the Sony PS-X500 I had before (Underrated table in its own right). It's quiet, great bass response. I'm using a Sumiko Blackbird on this table.

DAC/Streamer - Mytek Brooklyn Bridge - Moved up to this from a Bluesound Node 2i. Huge improvement imho, more detailed, more imaging, somehow the sound was no longer stuck inside the speakers. Almost like moving from a 2 inch diameter pipe to a 12 inch diameter pipe.

I've spent most of the pandemic working on my stereo system. I got the final pieces in short succession a few months ago and have been happy since.

Speakers - Avantgarde Acoustic Duo 2.2 - I've been dreaming of Avantgardes ever since I first saw them at Munich High End about 6 years ago. I saw them again in Berlin a few months later, but then went six years without hearing them. I got a chance to pick some up at a great price, so I made the drive to Virginia from NYC to pick them up after ruminating on the decision to buy them for months. Couldn't be happier, except maybe if I find a pair of Duo Mezzo's at a price I can't pass up.

Integrated Amp - Line Magnetic LM-218ia - I picked this up as a dealer demo last summer. It's the 211-based model and sounds great. I swapped the driver tubes out for KT88s immediately after buying it and also swapped the 12AX7's to some new production JJ's that were nice and cheap. Will play more with tubes later. The output tubes are still stock. This thing's a beast. It weighs a ton and has just enough edge on attacks and excess current capacity that it can really make the Avantgarde's go. It may not have the midrange beauty of 300B's, but the 211 is the kind of wild I like.

Finally Happy with My System

I'm not a total audiophile so I apologize in advance if I don't have proper terminology for everything.

I have a pair of Klipsch RP160-M speakers and an Onkyo TX8160 receiver. I've noticed that with some songs I'm getting occasional static sounds at certain points. For example, on Subterranean Homesick Alien by Radiohead  it's fairly audible in the intro as the bass drop comes in and the following sustained bass during the intro, though the static crackling seems to be more tied to higher tones of the guitar. It appears across both speakers...However, the static isn't present in all songs or even consistently throughout the songs I do hear it (such as Subterranean Homesick Alien).

I tried making a fresh clip to the ends of the speaker cables and reconnecting them using the banana clips I have, and that hasn't remedied the issue. I'd really appreciate any insight anyone might be able to share.

EDIT: So, I might have come up with the solution. Could it be a bad signal from the laptop I had plugged in? I played my CD of OK Computer and didn't have any issue but it was there when I ran the 3.5mm into my tablet. I don't think it's the 3.5mm cord because it doesn't seem present when I run it through my phone.

Hi guys,

I have the below setup in mind and would love to hear some feedbacks. This will be my intro to vinyl so please excuse my ignorance. Currently, I'd like to have both my PC and turntable hooked to it.

* **Sources**: **[Current desktop PC motherboard/Turntable]**: Pro-ject Debut Carbon Evo
* **DAC**: Topping D10s as my motherboard only has USB out (https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/topping-d10s-usb-dac-and-bridge-review.14859/)
* **Integrated Amp**: CA AXR85 or AXR100. Interested in the refurbished options on Ebay. Is there any reason to choose the AXR100 over the AXR85 if I already have an external DAC in mind?
* **Speakers**: Elac DBR62 or CA EVO S. (https://www.cambridgeaudio.com/usa/en/products/evo/evo-s)

The two sets of speakers are relatively comparable in terms of price with the Elac having a good rep while the CA has few reviews since they are new. But I really like the looks of the CA and I read somewhere it might be nice to pair same brands components. Doe that make sense? Any thoughts on past CA speakers?

Hi everyone. I just found this sub from google so if I’m breaking a rule I’m sorry. 

Basically I have a game room upstairs. I have two Klipsch Hersey speakers that I want to hook up to my tv. The tv only has a digital input and the speakers just have the standard two wire connections. What’s the best way to hook this up?


Also, not sure if I want to have the speakers in the front of the room or back or what. If you do recommend back idk if I want wires going across my room or if there is a wireless thing or what

What speakers should I get?

I have a Fluance RT-82 turntable, and am looking for bookshelf speakers that would be able to output all of the range of sound coming out of that, for as cheap as possible.
