As far as performance goes, if you're still on an older graphics card, 900 series and down, there's a noticeable performance bump. It's not exactly night and day depending on what you're upgrading from, but if your current video card bites the dust and you can't get a hold of the current 3000 series or even 2000 series, this one will get the job done.. Why isn't 1660 Super not completely gone from the market like everything up from 980?

isn't perfect but it's good as one of *many* tools in assessing dollars/performance. The 1660 Super is priced well and a good grab, and it sometimes benches a little faster than the Ti variant

Nvidia GTX 1660 ~£250 (miles over my budget but willing to wait an extra 10 weeks if it is absolutely worth it). I'm leaning towards the GTX 970 as it is cheapest and my dad (was self employed in the pc industry with both software and hardware for 15 years) says it's still a very good card. Obviously cards like the RTX 3090 are out of the question but I'm looking for something at most under £200.

Compatibility

Excellent price for performance, AMD is unbeatable IMHO

Not only price point, but AMD processors as a whole are far better with power consumption; the TDP for AMD Ryzen processors is roughly half that of equivalent Intel processors (mid 60's for AMD, mid 120's for Intel). Prices are from Amazon; performance is from CPU-Z benchmarks. The Ryzen 5 5600x is an excellent CPU if you do not want to spend 200+ on a good processor. I highly recommend for lower/mid-tier builds and make sure you pair it with a Zen 3 motherboard to exploit its full potential
