 literally everything. The OS on the Fire tablet is clunky in comparison. Even the virtual keyboard doesn't work as well for me.  Oh, and with the Alexa enabled on the Fire, when I use it in the same room as an Echo (which is everywhere in my house), they don't work together very well

  ** A BRICK: Heavier than expected. If you're used to Samsung or Apple, this tablet will feel like a brick and also a bit thick. Expected it to be slimmer and lighter in design.  ** SCREEN QUALITY: Picture quality not as sharp or good for movies as my Samsung

**Amazon Fire HD Kids 8**. Tailor made, but my reservation is that the hardware is extremely slow. 1.5GB RAM is just atrocious

 So she bought me an Amazon Fire HD 8 2021 for Christmas in the hopes that it would fix the issues I was having with my 2017 model. That brings me to the real point of this review. Having used this tablet for almost a year now I can say again that this is an excellent tablet for the price. I only have a few complaints that I was hoping Amazon had fixed since the 2017 model

 3) The battery life is about the same as my 2017 which was also very disappointing. On a full charge I can usually get about 4-5 hours of solid use before it's almost dead (that was brand new), about 8-10 hours of intermittent use, and if left on but inactive (on standby) you can get up to 3 days on a full charge before it dies. However I will also say that those numbers have not decreased much, if any, over the past 8 months of use. So at least the battery life seems to be fairly consistent

 So it definitely served its purpose. Last year my wife was tired of me always complaining about how slow it had gotten and how limited it was on being able to keep up with newer apps. So she bought me an Amazon Fire HD 8 2021 for Christmas in the hopes that it would fix the issues I was having with my 2017 model. That brings me to the real point of this review

Overall an excellent product for the price!

 It has lots of features for use as a tablet beyond just reading that allow it to compete with Samsung Tab and iPad. DOWNs: The battery does not seem to last as long in the new version. This may help make it lighter, but for moderate use, you will need to charge daily (before, my wife plugged in the old one every few days). Ad-supported price

2-inch screen that looks great even though it doesn’t have some of the more techy features of more expensive iPads. If you have used an iPad Pro and care about things like ProMotion or a laminated display, they haven’t made their way down here yet. 

Even if you stipulate that everybody should get the $429 128GB model, the eighth-gen iPad is a very good deal. Apple’s keyboard costs $159 on top of that, but there are less expensive third-party options out there now. 

The only major change Apple made with this generation of the iPad was swapping in a new processor, the A12 Bionic. It adds a graphical boost and a neural engine for some AI tasks, but to me, its importance is that the iPad continues to feel fast overall and that it will continue to be a computer that will last you for years.

 Let'S talk about Chrome Books. In this price range, they are slower, they have worse hardware, but they do have stellar multi-user support and they include a keyboard at no extra charge., Whereas this thing is 160 bucks., Plus all Chrome Books charge via USBC

 It's thin and light., And it has a battery that lasts all day. In a vacuum just considered on its own merits. The 8th, gen iPad really is great

 It is an iPad which means that it runs iPad OS which is fast and fluid, and has nice multi-tasking capabilities., Even the app support for the iPad's multi-tasking is getting better. Most apps that I use now are able to do split, screen., Plus the fact that it's An iPad means you also get a vast, huge library of apps

. That'S still a pretty good deal. You're, getting a very fast high quality iPad that will last you for years for less than 500 bucks.

of the basic iPad, in fact.

in literally every way
but one: the processor.

It now has an A12 bionic
chip in it, which is faster.

But this thing in my
hand hasn't changed much

And the last one was great for the price,

But see, there really
isn't any good competition

There's the iPad, which is pretty amazing,

why Apple just hasn't had to
