Amazfit Band 5 vs Amazon Halo

I don't love it, but it's fine for use with a $26 fitness band. It's wrong to expect the sun, moon and stars at this price.CNET hasn't done a full-on review of the Band 5, and I've seen pretty mixed reviews around the interwebs. But if you just want a watch that offers basic fitness features and phone alerts and solid battery life, this is worth a look

I don't think it's like, the most accurate pedometer out there. But at that price point none of them are. Fitbit might have some more accurate stuff at a slightly higher price point.

The halo view checks a lot of the boxes. You'D want from a basic fitness tracker, especially for less than a hundred dollars, but the big question is ...

I think the Amazfit band 5 would be a good choice. It's cheaper than all of these and also has Alexa. Amazfit is made by Huami who also makes the mi bands which I've had several of in the past and have loved for the exact purpose you describe. The fitness features are nothing really to write home about but for notifications, reminders, etc it's perfect

I can only imagine what that does to your battery. What would be great here is a little vibraty notification on the device itself when you go negative. Some sort of subtle reminder that hey, maybe your tone isn't what you want at the moment. That would be so much more useful than hours later being told you did something wrong

-Battery life seems about 7 days with sleep tracking on and 5 min heart beat interval monitoring on. Less than the 14 days or so they advertise but workable. -Started using the watch for stationary bicycle tracking, helps.

One of the primary drawbacks from the Active was the short battery life. Having to take off your smartwatch and charge it every day or so makes it hard to get into the habit of actually wearing the darn thing. If you don't use the Tone feature (more on that in a moment), the Halo lasts a good 3-4 days per charge. That's fine, but with no display of any sort, no GPS, and a lack of other common sensors, it seems as though Amazon's engineers should have been able to get a week out of this thing, at least

but I'm legitimately blown away with what you're getting for a price tag south of $40. If you're looking for the ultimate budget fitness tracker, I don't see how the Amazefit 5 Band can be beat. Just don't buy it solely for stress level tracking like I did

If I had to spend $100 to get the device today I doubt I would pull the trigger. If I have to start paying for the features I like in the Halo app, forget it. I'll just get a Fitbit.

) What I would like to do is to be able to design my own watchface, but I have not figured out how to do that yet. Overall, I have found the watch very comfortable to wear throughout the day, as well as while sleeping. It seems to be reasonably accurate when it comes to measuring steps, heart rate and SpO2. While the watch is supposed to be able to withstand water, I have not tried wearing it in the shower

The corrective exercise videos are relaxing and enjoyable. Physical therapy doctor Kelly Starrett leads you through the exercises while explaining the purpose of each move and demonstrating proper form. You perform each move twice, for about 30 seconds per round. 

But there is a problem. The step counting process involves Apple Health mediating and synthesizing simultaneous data from both iPhone and Amazit. Unfortunately, this process becomes inaccurate whenever my activity finds me alternating somewhat frequently between walking with my iPhone and not walking with my iPhone. That is to say, if I'm mostly relying on the Amazfit to capture the step count, but in the course of the day I pick up and use my phone, pacing a little while doing so and registering steps via the iPhone, then the counting system as controlled by Apple Health, often undercounts my total number of steps

It communicates with your phone via Bluetooth, and it should work equally well with both iPhones and Android phones. The three main band colors that will be sold are onyx (black), mineral (light blue), and rose gold (pink-ish).

Update 9/30/22 : I contacted Amazfit via their warranty email (not the app) and got a response. They promptly processed shipment of a replacement strap and I am able to start using the product. Do note that while I got no response on the App (as was directed to), reaching them directly via email was what worked! The confirmed my watch was still under warranty and sent the strap replacement. Original review: Worked well for 10 months and the loop on the strap broke

I really just wanted a rechargeable sturdy watch that didn't look too bad on my wrist. If only I could see the time when I wanted to!

(Doing this by body composition alone I am not sure is a good measure of health)

Also you can not stream the labs to a TV, so watching them on your phone sucks to be honest. Also the workouts in the labs you can probably find for free on youtube if you really wanted to.

I think one design improvement is to have a swap-able battery so you can charge one and have one on the band. Although this is not a huge deal for me as the charging is pretty fast but some might find it important

I used to have a pedometer to track my steps but this is way more fancy. I don’t use Alexa with this watch so I can’t vouch for that function. Pros: -comfortable to wear after some getting used to. Sometimes the watch will slip off when the buckle part snags but I have grown used to wearing this watch

Other sleep stuff:
I’m a good sleeper already, so I don’t pay a ton of attention to the sleep aid stuff they have, but my husband uses it when he can’t fall asleep even though he doesn’t wear the band! Seeing the sleep stats each morning is pretty interesting to me though, and I look them over when I eat breakfast.

No face:
I don’t like smart watches, and I don’t want a watch face.

Comfort:
Other negative things I’ve seen claim it’s bulky and has to be worn super tight or it clanks around. Absolutely not true
